Pain rushing into her neck just above her shoulder, Wendy let out the loudest shriek in her life. And she continued shrieking. A small bloody tracking device now on the grass a few inches away, Tiberius couldn't stand seeing her like that. He was also worried that someone or something might hear her. Quietly, he wrapped one wing around the younger hawk in an attempt to calm her down. It took awhile but it worked. Wendy had gone from screeching to whimpering and crying, tears running down her face.
Standing up, Tiberius grabbed the two tracking devices and carried them to a nearby creek. Dropping them in, he silently watched the water carry them away. "Have fun tracking us now..." the old red tailed hawk muttered before turning away. Finding some cobwebs, he grabbed them and returned to the spot where he had left Wendy. She was still crying.
"Hey, it's okay, it's all over," Tiberius spoke reassuringly, laying down beside Wendy again. Very carefully, he placed one or two cobwebs over the bleeding wound on her neck. At the same time, she had buried her face into his chest, all the while sobbing. Sighing heavily as he looked down at her, Tiberius knew that they had to leave the area and fast. Gently grabbing her as if she was a kitten, he started to walk but stopped once she immediately let out a loud whimper. It was pretty obvious she was still in pain. Turning his head around, he placed her on his back. "Hang on," he murmured before walking again.
Though she didn't reply back, Wendy hung on and continued to cry softly as they traveled through the forest.
