Lifting her head when she heard the painful whimper, Wendy tilted her head in curiosity when she saw it had come from the older hawk. "Are you okay?" she asked quietly, expecting a snappish remark in return. However, her companion didn't say anything and continued whimpering. He seemed to be in pain. Just then, the door opened.

"Alright, let's see where those beagle puppies are..." Chris murmured as he walked over to the other side of the small room of cages. When the man passed by their cage, Wendy watched as the old hawk gave out another whimper, louder than before. He also began limping around the cage. Coming back towards them, Chris murmured, "What's the matter with you boy?" Shrugging his shoulders, he theorized, "You probably ate too much." He began to walk away when, with a loud cry, the hawk collapsed and didn't move.

Jumping to her feet, Wendy didn't even care if she got hurt as she rushed over to the older red tail. Nudging him gently, she cried, "Come on! Wake up! You're okay!" Seeing what was happening, Chris fumbled with the keys as he mumbled, "Val is gonna kill me if he's dead." Hearing that word, Wendy started whimpering. Looking down at the old hawk, she tried to wake him up again but he still wouldn't move. At that moment, Chris managed to find the right key and unlocked the door.

"You poor thing..." Chris murmured pitifully as he gently picked up the old hawk and took him out of the cage. Even though the cage door was wide open, Wendy didn't leave as she watched the man cradle the hawk in his arms. The youngster was about to head for her corner when she saw the older red tail open one eye.

Seeing his plan was working, Tiberius swiftly made his move...
