Glancing up at his owner, Tiberius let out a small squeak of confusion. I'm not being replaced, am I? he thought worriedly, his feathers bristling slightly. Using a free hand to pet the old hawk, Alfred spoke softly, "Tiberius, this is Wendy. She's going to be joining our family." Just then, the little hawk known as Wendy opened her yellow eyes.
Blinking her eyes, Wendy looked around at her surroundings. She had no idea where she was but she clearly remembered the man who was holding her and the woman behind her looked familiar too. She could hear it raining outside. But the thing that really caught her attention was an older hawk who was gazing down at her. With very slow movements, the other hawk lowered his head to get a better look. Comforted by his presence, Wendy playfully tapped his beak.
Overreacting to just a simple tap, Tiberius backed off and hissed. Not waiting to see what everyone's reactions were, he spread his wings and flew up to the highest branch inside the shed. Hiding in the dark corner high above everyone's heads, he glowered at Wendy while letting out a low and threatening growl. Frightened, Wendy tried her best to hide in the towel she was wrapped up in. Concerned, Alfred and Laura looked at each other.
Clearing her throat as she recovered from the shock of what just happened, Laura mumbled, "That went well... I think..."
