After successfully fleeing from Val, Chris and the other humans hunting them, it was five minutes and three miles later when Tiberius finally landed. Once they were safely back on the ground, Wendy immediately opened her beak and asked the first question that popped into her mind, "How did they find us?!"

"I honestly haven't the slightest clue. We walked so far away from their facility that I thought they would give up their search," Tiberius answered, catching his breath. A phantom gunshot was still ringing inside his head. Trying to calm down, he started to pace back and forth. Frightened herself by the incident, Wendy laid down on a smooth flat rock nearby. Both hawks were absolutely terrified about the current situation and neither had the faintest idea of how to get themselves out of it.

Still pacing, Tiberius had begun to calm down. He was also beginning to remember some details he had noticed while he was spying on the humans from the summit of the embankment. The old hawk recalled that Val and Chris had been looking at a GPS moments before coming towards the area where he and Wendy had been hiding. A terrible thought then came to the hawk. Praying he wasn't right, Tiberius quietly reached up with his wing and felt along his neck. Sure enough, there was a slight bump just a little bit above his left shoulder.

The sign of a tracking device.

Silently cleaning the white fluffy down that was on her shoulders and upper back, Wendy started to fade out from the real world. She was preoccupied with her thoughts. The young hawk was so zoned out that a small yet sharp yelp was the only thing that brought her back to reality. Startled, she recognized that the sound had come from Tiberius himself. Wendy turned her head and looked over at the old hawk just as he lowered his foot. There was a small metallic thing laying nearby and his talons were glistening red. Looking down at the piece of metal, Wendy quietly asked, "What is that?"

"It's a tracking device, helps humans find things such as animals that they lost," Tiberius explained, trying to stop the blood flow on his neck as he solemnly added, "And we are being tracked."
