Fast as lightning, Tiberius quickly flew back up to the dark corner. His feathers bristling, he hissed angrily. His talons dug into the branch he was on as he glowered at Wendy. The little month old hawk clung to the branch she was on for dear life, trembling all over. Laura quietly picked her up and wrapped the towel back around her. Alfred looked up at Tiberius, concerned with the old hawk's behavior.

"I'll just take Wendy back to the clinic, find her a place to stay in the morning," Laura stated, a hint of sorrow in her voice. She was about to put Wendy back in the cardboard box when Alfred stopped her. "I'm not giving up just yet. I got one more trick up my sleeve," he whispered. Looking up at Tiberius who was growling and pacing in his dark corner, he spoke softly, "Hey sweet boy, you wanna sleep inside for tonight?" Hearing those words, the old hawk was on his owner's glove in a matter of seconds.

Smiling quietly, Alfred gently stroked Tiberius's head as he remarked, "I knew that would get your attention. Alright, you can sleep inside for tonight..."

Yes! Tiberius thought happily.

"If you be nice to Wendy."

No! the thought entered Tiberius's head. He didn't like the idea of being replaced by the little hawk. Huffing, he glared at Wendy, silently blaming her. The young hawk just looked at him with fear in her yellow eyes, trembling in Laura's arms. Tiberius growled threateningly, causing her to become even more frightened.

Just then, Tiberius felt Alfred's hand gently stroking his feathers. Though he didn't purr due to not being in a good mood anymore, the old hawk looked at his owner. Petting the hawk, Alfred whispered, "Please Tiberius, she's got nowhere else to go. Be nice to her. Plus, you need a companion. Think of it as a win win for the both of you." Glancing over at Wendy, Tiberius narrowed his eyes as he contemplated his options. Giving in, he nuzzled his owner, who smiled.

Carrying Wendy while she followed Alfred and Tiberius, Laura murmured, "You're in for a long night with these two, I hope you realize that."
