"Mercury?! Is that you?" Tiberius questioned, stepping out of the bushes and into the open. Wendy stayed behind him as she looked around. There were birds of prey from all six of the tribes. Bald eagles and turkey vultures, great horned owls and peregrine falcons, ospreys and red tailed hawks. They were everywhere. One of the larger bald eagles looked up from the cluster he was in. Seeing the two hawks, he exclaimed, "Tiberius, you son of a vixen! It's good to see ya!"

"It's great to see you too pal!" Tiberius replied, delighted to see his old friend. Making his way through the crowd, Mercury couldn't help but grab the old hawk and give him a big bear hug. Tiberius could barely breathe as his bones popped. Setting his friend down, Mercury at last noticed little Wendy. Lowering his head for a closer look, the bald eagle asked, "Who's this?"

"I'm Wendy," Wendy introduced herself, trembling. She felt very intimidated by how big the bald eagle in front of her was. She knew they were big but holy crap they were bigger than what she thought. Patting her head gently with his wing, Tiberius explained, "My owner adopted her or something."

"So if you're still living with your owner, what are you doing all the way down here in Virginia?" Mercury pointed out, tilting his head to the side inquisitively. His light brown eyes widening, Tiberius exclaimed, "Wait, we're in Virginia?!" The old hawk facewinged. It was bad enough that he and Wendy were far from home. Now he knew how far. New York City was several hundred miles away from here. It was going to take ages to get back and winter was coming! Looking up at Mercury, he asked, "What are you and the Council doing down here?"

"Migrating. Snow is coming early this year," Mercury answered. Tiberius rubbed his forehead in frustration. Trembling beside him, Wendy asked quietly, "Are we ever getting home?" Looking down at the young hawk, Tiberius nuzzled her forehead as he whispered, "Yes, we're gonna get home Wendy. It's just gonna take a while, that's all."

"Okay," Wendy mumbled, still worried.
