It was sometime after midnight when the thunderstorms came.

Waking up when he heard the first clap of thunder, Tiberius peered out. He saw lightning flashing across the sky and trees swaying in the wind. This was a very massive storm. But Tiberius wasn't scared. Not one little bit. He loved thunderstorms. The same couldn't be said for Wendy though.

Dreaming, Wendy was sleeping when the thunderstorms came. She screeched at the sound of thunder and immediately pressed herself against Tiberius. Her sudden movement accidentally caused the rotten log to tip over. The next thing the two hawks knew, they were rolling down the steep hill that was nearby. After a few seconds of being tossed around inside, the hawks were sprawled out on the grass once the log shattered at the base of a tree.

"Wendy, I already told ya not to-" Tiberius was about to scold the younger hawk when there was another clap of thunder. Shrieking, Wendy practically lunged forward and buried her face into his chest. "Mommy! Daddy!" she wailed at the top of her lungs, sobbing tremendously. The month old red tail proceeded to whimper for her mom and dad repeatedly. All the while, Tiberius was trying to get her attention.

"Hey, are you listening to me? Wendy! We need to get out of the rain now before we get hypothermia or something!" Tiberius shouted. He pried Wendy off his chest as she cried, "I want Mommy and Daddy!" Sighing heavily while he rubbed his forehead, the older hawk growled, "I know you do but they're not here-"

"I know that! They're gone!" Wendy retorted. Neither hawk said another word after that. The thunderstorm raged on around them. Wendy lowered her head shamefully while Tiberius looked down at her. The little hawk was sobbing again. And they were both getting soaked to the skin in the freezing rain. Picking her up, he mumbled softly, "Come on. Let's find some shelter."
