By the time the two hawks woke up, it was late in the morning. At least the rain had finally stopped. Nudging Wendy up to her feet, Tiberius yawned and stretched before following the youngster out of the den. "Ready?" he asked, looking down at the young hawk. Nodding her head, Wendy trilled, "Let's go!"

With that the pair set off on their journey again. They crossed through forests and hills and rivers and marshes. Several hours had passed when they arrived at a small meadow. With it still being the early afternoon and sunset being a couple of hours away, Tiberius figured they could rest for a bit. And that's what they did.

Until Wendy was woken up by something.

"What was that?!" Wendy squeaked in fright. She had felt something small jump on her back. It was gone by the time she looked. But she could still hear it chirping amongst the tall grass. In fact, she could hear several of them. It was a pack of something but what?!

Waking up, Tiberius listened quietly. Recognizing the sound, he chuckled softly as he purred, "Wendy, relax. They're only grasshoppers." Tilting her head to the side, Wendy asked, "What's a grasshopper?" At that moment, one grasshopper leaped up and landed on her beak. Her yellow eyes widening with shock, the young red tailed hawk mumbled, "Oh."

"Don't worry, they won't hurt you," Tiberius reassured Wendy. Sitting up, he gently blew the grasshopper off her beak. Watching the grasshopper and its pals hop away, Wendy couldn't help but giggle. She then raced after them, playing chase. Tiberius silently observed, a smile on his face. He was about to fall back asleep when both he and Wendy heard the same sound in the nearby forest.

The cry of a bird of prey.

"Is that what I think it is?" Wendy asked, padding over to Tiberius. Up on his feet now, the old red tailed hawk murmured, "I don't know yet. I'm gonna check, stay behind me." Wendy nodded her head in understanding before following the older hawk, staying close behind like she had been told. Pushing his way through the undergrowth, Tiberius discovered the source behind the noise.

A large group of various birds of prey, some who he knew very well.
