Twenty Minutes Later...

"Tiberius, get down here. She's just a little one," Alfred tried to coax the old red tailed hawk down. Pacing along the branch while staying hidden in the shadows of the dark corner way high up, the only thing visible of Tiberius was his light brown eyes, which were flashing red in anger and frustration. Huffing, the old hawk stayed where he was.

"I don't think he's coming down anytime soon." Laura murmured, her head tipped back to look up at Tiberius. Wendy was trembling in her arms, fearfully glancing up at the older hawk every now and then. She was letting out little squeaks of terror every time Tiberius growled. Laura did her best to comfort the young hawk, gently stroking the fluffy feathers on her head and back.

Rubbing his forehead while sighing heavily, Alfred spoke softly, "Tiberius, can you PLEASE come down here. She won't hurt you." Glancing over at Laura, he added very quietly, "And I pray he won't hurt her." The veterinarian crossed her fingers. Glaring at Wendy, Tiberius's response was a low growl. Hearing it, Wendy let out a yelp.

"Oh my god Tiberius, she's a baby! Stop scaring her," Laura pointed out, trying hard now to keep Wendy calm. The young hawk wasn't helping one bit though as she squirmed around. His eyes narrowing, Tiberius continued snarling as he thought, Get that thing out of my shed right now... He let out another hiss, scaring the little hawk down below even more. Sighing, Laura whispered, "This obviously isn't going to work. I can see if some-"

"Wait, I know what will get him down," Alfred whispered back. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a snack baggie filled with little pieces of venison inside. Seeing the bag, Tberius instantly stopped growling. His eyes grew round as he watched his owner pull out a piece. Holding it up, Alfred spoke softly, "You want this?" His stomach the only thing growling now, Tiberius let out a small shriek.

"Then get down here," Alfred continued. Glancing from the piece of meat to the little hawk and back, Tiberius mumbled, "Why can't you just throw the meat up here? I'll catch it, no doubt about that." When he saw his owner slowly putting the piece back in the bag, the old hawk's head exploded into a mental argument. Disappointed with himself, he flew down to a branch eye level with the humans and received his reward.

Eating his treat, Tiberius didn't even realize that Wendy had been placed on the same branch as he was until she brushed up against him...
