A low growl rumbled deep within Tiberius's throat when the two humans stopped in front of his cage. Noticing the same blonde hair and hazel eyes, he inferred that they were siblings, possibly even twins. However, that didn't do anything to settle his nerves as he continued growling. The woman smiled as she remarked, "Aren't you a tough guy?"

"Yeah, you should've seen what he did to Bill. He's currently in the hospital," the man joined in. Glancing over at her brother with a dead look in her eyes, the woman murmured, "I know Chris, I saw too. But at least he and Ron did their job. We now have two bald eagles to sell."

"Red tailed hawk. Not a bald eagle, not a pigeon, I'm a hawk," Tiberius grumbled irritably. Looking up from her corner, Wendy asked quietly, "What do they mean by selling us?" A growl from the older hawk quickly shut her up. Meanwhile, the humans were still talking to each other, trying to discuss the best price for a bald eagle.

"Val, I'm pretty sure they cost like... five hundred bucks," Chris pointed out.

"No you idiot, they're most likely a million bucks. Maybe even more!" Val retorted.

"I'll look it up online," Chris mumbled, heading for the door. Arms crossed, Val grumbled as she followed her brother, "I'm obviously right, I got more brains than you've ever seen."

"Sure, I have a doctorate degree and I'm a veterinarian con artist," Chris spoke sarcastically. That earned him a whack from his sister Val right before the door shut. The room descended into pitch black, the sun long gone now. Hearing and seeing animals whimpering as they went to sleep in their separate cages, Tiberius sighed deeply. Laying down, he was about to fall asleep when Wendy moved closer to him. He quickly pushed her away. Shaking, Wendy whimpered, "I'm cold..."

"You're covered in fluff. You'll be fine," Tiberius hissed. Not even bothering to argue with the older red tail, Wendy went back over to her corner. Curling up into a tight ball, she sadly gazed up at her cellmate. Tears brimmed in her yellow eyes. Closing them, the month old hawk silently cried herself to sleep. Huffing, Tiberius stared at the moon as it peered through one of the skylights above, promising himself that, one way or another, he would get home.
