Hours later, the two hawks were seeking shelter. They both carried a squirrel each, their dinner for their night. For Wendy, it was her first successful hunt. She had managed to catch the squirrel all by herself. Despite being tired, she walked with her fluffy chest puffed out with pride.

"Over here Wendy," Tiberius piped up. He had just found a suitable sleeping place for them. An abandoned badger den. The old hawk peered his head inside, making sure that it truly was abandoned. Once he was sure, he motioned for Wendy to follow him in.

"I'm so hungry," Wendy mumbled, setting her squirrel down. Already digging into his, Tiberius looked up. "Go ahead and eat kid, ya earned it," he replied. Wendy didn't need to be told twice. She happily ate her squirrel. Finished with his, Tiberius yawned quietly. He was ready to fall asleep.

"How much longer are we gonna be travelling?" Wendy asked. She had finished her squirrel just now. Rolling over onto his side, Tiberius sighed and answered, "I honestly don't know. For all we know, we might have several miles to go yet." Laying down beside the older hawk, Wendy whimpered, "I wish we were home now."

"Yeah, me too," Tiberius agreed. He thought about his owner Alfred. The old man must be so worried about him and Wendy. Heck, Dr. Laura was probably worried too. And what about all of his friends? Gidget and Norman had no idea where he was. The old hawk sighed softly as he glanced down at Wendy, who was already asleep. He curled up around her protectively.

They were gonna get home, they had to.
