The week quickly passed and the preliminaries for the prefecturals was upon the swimmers. At the club house, Gou was fired up as she ripped the paper from her banner that said 'one day until prefecturals', in it's place being revealed another paper that said 'prefecturals tomorrow'.

"At last, the prefecturals start tomorrow! Everyone, please make sure to get plenty of rest today!" Said the red head with the crumbled paper in hand as she looked at the team.

"Also, even though you get to rest today, make sure you do it properly and still keep up with the relaxation technic I gave you and have a light dinner." Interjected Nayna.

"We'll meet tomorrow in front of the venue at 8AM sharp! Tardiness is strictly prohibited!" Said Gou, Nayna nodding beside her. "Is everyone ready?"

"Totally! We're fired up and ready to go! We even got our new matching swimsuits!" Said Nagisa happily.

"Nayna, you sure you don't want to participate? You have all the chances to nationals and could get scouted." Said Gou looking at her.

"I'm good. And I won't go on to sports. Don't forget that I have been scouted by unis since middle school. I'd most probably have it into medical." She said with a smile.

"That's great. We'd need a doctor on the team too!" Said Nagisa.

"Right." Said Nayna amused.

"Let's go over the events again." Said Makoto. "The first day will be the individual events, and the second day is the relay. The entries in the individual events are Nagisa in the 100m breaststroke, Rei the 100m butterfly, Haru will swim the 100m and 200m freestyle, and I'll do the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle."

"But Tachibana-kun, why did you chose the 200m freestyle instead of the 100m?" Asked Ms. Amakata.

"Because I'd have absolutely no chance against Haru in the 100m."

"Makoto-senpai, you've worked really hard and spent more time training every day in preparation for the 200m freestyle, haven't you?" Said Rei.

"Though I still feel like it isn't enough to compete with Haru."

Nayna noticed Haru's look as Makoto talked. She slowly slid beside him unobserved.

"Don't worry. I'm sure he wants this just to have peace of mind for the end of highschool. And who knows, maybe he wants to know how everyone competing with you feels like." She whispered only for him to hear.

Haru looked at her surprised then back at Makoto.

After practice, Nayna made her way to Samezuka only to find Rin once again at the pool, doing laps.

She approached him when he pulled himself out of the water, most probably just to get on the starting block again but stopped when he saw her, making a b line her way.

"Hey, Babe." He said pecking her lips. "Came to spy on the competition?" He grinned.

"Maybe you should do that? We're fired up. We might take your victories." She smirked at him only for him to ruffle her hair.

"They are just lucky to have you as trainer. Too bad that I stole you for myself too." He smirked pulling her against him.

"You should go and rest. No time for messing around." She said flicking his nose.

"Tsk. You're no fun."He pouted.

"I'll be fun after." She said giving him a quick kiss. "I just came to make sure that you're actually going to bed early."

"I am."

"It's 9...and you're still at the pool."

"A few extra laps never killed anyone." He shrugged.
