After barely a couple of days, Nayna already returned to Iwatobi, annoyed beyond her. She arrived in the small port town past midnight, rushing to enter her house. Once inside, she relaxed, slowly walking in. With a heavy sigh, she threw her bag on the couch of her small house before falling beside it, letting her head back, staring at the ceiling.
"Finally some peace and quiet..." She grumbled, closing her eyes.
She flinched out of her slumber when Link's wet nose touched her cheek. She opened her eyes looking around confused, slowly her memory telling her the last details she could recall of last night.
"Right...I came back to Iwatobi...Why exactly did I come back here?" She thought out loud as she got up stretching.
Looking over her shoulder at the clock on top of the fireplace, she read 5.40.
"It's so early..." She mumbled before Link nudged her with his head. "Alright, alright, big boy. Let's go." She said with a yawn grabbing his leash, the two walking out the door into the cool air of the morning.
Nayna led her dog towards their usual route but a figure on the other side of the road caught her attention. Looking over she spotted Rin jogging in the same direction not noticing her presence.
She wanted to get his attention but as she noticed the look on his face she decided not to, instead, she walked on, making her way towards the beach as usual, where the dog could run and play freely.
As she walked on the beach behind Link, after a while, she took her shoes off and approached the water more, letting her soles sink into the wet sand, the waves crashing against her feet as she looked out into the ocean at the sun rising. Soon, she stopped, not really enjoying the view anymore, as her eyes were focused on the images that her mind was showing her in the form of memories right before her open eyes. Memories of a year ago, when she was finally somewhat happy, not so alone anymore. Her skin tingling in the places where he was touching her in her memory. Suddenly, memory molded with reality when she got touched by a hand in reality as she was in the memory.
The large hand grabbed softly on her upper arm as a torso came into her view, another hand grasping her other upper arm, softly shaking her a bit.
"Hey, you ok?" She heard a familiar voice.
Looking up, she saw the maroon eyes of Rin's looking down at her concerned.
She quickly swallowed her sadness looking at him with her usual flare.
"Why wouldn't I be, Red?"
"Because I was trying to get your attention for the last 5 minutes only to be ignored." He said letting go of her arms.
"Oh, how could I? Your ego will never recover from this." She said dramatically.
He looked at her surprised by the sudden change in her mood before letting out a short laugh.
"You sure are something else."
"So why did you need my attention so much for?"
"Oh, nothing much, just that your dog is digging out the beach." He said pointing with his thumb behind him.
Looking over, she saw Link actually digging a huge hole, a mountain of sand behind him.
"Shit" She said and ran to her dog.
"That's not a nice word." He said amused going after her.
After she got Link out of the hole and they left, they continued to walk together.
"Didn't know you came back."
"Didn't know I have to report to you either." She said bored.
"Someone got an attitude..." He said ticked off.
