80.Change of heart

With a heavy sigh, Nayna looked at the wall before she started.

"He was always overprotective and controlling and because of that we'd get in a lot of fights and stupid arguments."

"Was he ever...Has he ever..." Muttered Rin, unsure of how should he finish his sentance.

"No. Even though I doubt he would have, if he even tryed he'd be a gelding in no time." Huffed Nayna. "But after he got his element...Things changed."

Rin noticed the change in her tone and the look in her eyes but said nothing, letting her coninue.

"He pretty quickly learned how to use it and he got to a level where he could overpower me. The fact that he is a pretty rare element didn't help as I didn't know much about it...It actually scared me...Well...more than before, anyway."

"You were scared of him?"

"He knew what to say to make me feel...insecure..." She mumbled looking down only to flinch a bit when she felt one of Rins hands started to rub her back soothingly. "After that...things changed. His overprotectiveness and want for control got to a whole new level..." She said with another sigh, mindlessly, her fingers playing with Rins t-shirt. "I know he cares and his intentions were good...but he always tried to stop me from doing my job. I know that what I do can be dangerous but-"

"It's your duty." Said the redhead, completeing her sentance, looking down at her just as she turned to look up at him, their gazes finally meeting. "So you think that would happen with me too? That I'd do the same?" He asked softly, his hand on her back going through her hair.

Hearing that, Nayna's eyes widened before she looked away.

"History does tend to repeat itself..." She mumbled.

"So that's why you feel relieved that I don't have an element?"

"I don't want things to change...Not you...Not...Us..."

"You really think that I would do that?"

Nayna flinched at the question as she heard that repeating in her mind, slowly, Rin's voice molding with another as she recalled when she heard that question before.

[Flashback]

"Why are you so scared to tell about yourself?"

She jumped on her feet angrily.

"Oh, sorry that I have trust issues! I'm sorry that every time I start to believe in someone, they let me down and betray me or sell me out to my enemies!"

"What?" He said surprised. "And you really think that I'd do that? You really think so low of me?"

"It doesn't matter what I think." She said grabbing the doorknob, intending to leave but was stopped by his sudden grasp on both of her hands pinning her to the wall, her hands over her head held by one of his.

"Listen, Nayna." He said aggravated then his features softened. "I care about you, I really do." He said getting closer to her. "I like you and I'd never hurt you." He continued inching even closer, she already feeling his hot breath on her skin and a ghostly touch of his lips onto hers.

[End of Flashback]

Nayna shook her head quickly, trying to push away grom her mind that memory.

"Are you alright?" Rin asked looking at her confused.

She looked up at him surprised, almost forgetting her position in his lap and his presence altogether.

"Uh...Yeah...Sorry..." She said, letting out a nervous laugh, before her eyes lowered only to see Rin's large hand softly stroking her knee.

"What am I even thinking? Of course Rin is nothing like him...He would never be. Koji has been like that even before he got his element. Even if Rin would get an element I doubt he'd become like that..." She thought only to feel Rin's other hand ruffling her hair.

"What are you doing in there?" He asked amused.

Hearing his sing-song voice made her smile and relax, looking up at him again.

"Thinking."

"About?"

"How to answer your question."

"Which one?"

"If I really think that you would do the same. And no. I don't think that you would."

"You seemed to have said something else earlier."

"Changed my mind." She said with a shrug, playing with his hair, her eyes concentrated on her hands.

"And what exactly made you change your mind?"

"Dunno...Maybe seeing your hair, your eyes... Made me remember that you are nothing like Koji.

"Only my hair and eyes?" He asked with a knowing smirk.

"And maybe a couple of other things." She said slyly.

"Ah." He mouthed amused before let his body fall back on the bed, taking Nayna with him, the two laying there, on their sides, facing eachother, their hands playing with the other's hair.

"I want to tell you." She said suddenly.

"What?"

"Everything."

Hearing that, Rin's eyes grew wide before he leaned closer to her, kissing her forehead.

"I'm listening."

With that, Nayna smiled before she started.

After a few hours of talking, Nayna eneded up falling asleep cuddled up in Rin's side while the redhead laid on his back staring at the ceiling, processing everything his girlfriend just told him. With a sigh he looked down at her sorrowfully.

"You really have been through a lot..." He muttered in a low voice, tucking away a few stray strands of white hair from her hace.

"Rin..." He heard her mumble.

"Hm? Yeah, baby? What is it?"

Her red eyes slowly blinked drowsily.

"So...what do you think? You think I'm a monster too, don't you?"

"What? No! Of course not, babygirl. I love you. More than ever actually... You are amazing." Rin said surprised by her sudden question. "Let's get ourselves to bed properly." He said as he turned, hovering over her.

As a response, Nayna just nodded, lazily sitting up and laying back down properly in the bed.

"Babe, I mean to change too." Said Rin amused.

"Mmh." She mumbled into her pillow.

"Come on. " He said softly, pulling her up gently, taking off her shirt then pants before getting up and going to her wardrobe to fetch her night wear, returing with it and dressing her up. "Now you can go to sleep." He said amused.

As a response, she just let her body fall back and hit the pillow that she quickly melted into.

"It's hard to believe that you really are the same person you told me about...For how long have you been suffering keeping all that in? " Thought Rin looking down at her somberly before he covered her with the blanked as he laid beside her.

"How can someone...endure so much?" He thought with a sigh, draping his arm over her side, pulling her to his chest and kissing her head before he let himself drift off too.
