26. First Date

After practice was over, Nayna rushed to leave only to be stopped by Nagisa.

"Nayna-chan! We're meeting at Haru-chan's house. Come on!" Said the blonde happily.

"Sorry, Nagisa. Gotta go walk Link." She said looking over her shoulders at the others.

"Then we'll come with you. After that we can all go to Haru-chan's place."

"I'm busy today, sorry." She said turning to walk away.

"Mo! First Rei-chan, now you..." Pouted the swimmer crossing his arms.

Nayna sighed stopping in her tracks about to turn and speak only to hear Makoto.

"Nagisa. She is busy. She'll come next time, right, Nayna-chan?" Said Makoto looking at the girl who nodded, thanking him with a smile before she took off.

She quickly ran home, took Link for his walk before she returned home to get ready .

After she showered, she looked into her dresser for something to wear. As she was looking at a red summer dress, she stopped for a moment, sitting on her bed.

"What am I even doing?" She laughed nervously. "What am I even trying to do?" She thought out loud before tracing her finger through her hair as she leaned over her knees with her eyes closed. "Why am I even nervous, dammit... I am the one who proposed the date after all..."

With a heavy sigh, she got up, getting changed.

As it was close to 8, she got to the park. There, she saw Rin already waiting for her.

"Hey." He said with a smile.

"Hi. So, where are we going?" She asked walking beside him.

"Well, I got to make a last minute reservation for us to a restaurant close by." He said, slowly, his fingers intertwining with hers.

Nayna noticed the small gesture, as she also felt the tremor in his fingers.

"Why are you shaking?" She asked looking up at him.

Rin didn't dare to look her way as he turned red, turning his head away trying to hide it.

"Rin?" She asked concerned, her fingers curling around his.

"I'm just...nervous...I guess..." He said looking ahead stiffly before sighing and looking her way. "I've been trying to ask you out for some time now...But each time I blew it off." He said with a nervous grin.

Nayna looked at him surprised then smiled amused.

"That's why you've been acting so weird lately?"

"Y...Yeah..."

Once in front of the restaurant, Nayna looked at it a bit surprised. As they entered, Rin talked to the front of the house lady.

"Hi, I made a reservation on the name Matsuoka Rin."

"Of course sir, follow me." Said the woman leading them to a more secluded area, to a two person table.

"Rin, you didn't have to do this." Mumbled Nayna, a faint blush appearing on her face as she tucked her hair behind her ear.

"I guess the others didn't tell you that I'm a romantic. Besides, you seem like the kind who deserve only the best." He said with a smirk as he pulled the chair for her.

"I'm not the fancy type so you don't have to worry about that. It was fine for us even to get take out." She said amused.

"My girl deserves the best." He said letting her sit.
