53.No Trace

A few days have passed with still no trace of the white haired girl anywhere.

Rin would keep running to her place every time he had the time, hoping that when he'd open the door, the black dog would jump on him. He'd pat it's fluffy head then look up to see his girlfriend on the couch. But no. The place was still drowned in darkness and coldness.

He'd go upstairs, hoping to find a lump of covers in the middle of the mattress, with some long locks of white hair sticking out from under it but the bed was still neatly made, just the way he left it. He'd lay on the mattress looking at the ceiling for hours hoping to hear the door open until his phone would buzz, Nitori announcing him he is awaited.

With a heavy sigh, he gets up, making his way down the stairs and to the door. His dull maroon gaze would take one more look back at the open space before he would lock the door and leave, going back to Samezuka, on the way calling her again only to be sent straight to voicemail, each time he'd let a voicemail.

"Hey, babe...Still me...I'm still waiting for you...I promise you, I'm not mad... I'm just worried... Even if you don't want to come back...at least...let me know that you are alright...that you are safe...that you are alive...I Love you...so so much..." He managed to breath into the phone as he entered his room. Hanging up and throwing his phone on his bunk before he'd fall on the mattress too.

"Still no sign of her?" Asked Sousuke as he came down from his top bunk.

"No... I must have left her at least 20 voicemails...each time I call it goes straight to voicemail... I don't know how to reach her if she's in Tokyo. Fuck, she could be anywhere in the world for all I know...She could be dead..." Whimpered Rin.

"If she doesn't want to be found she won't be." Sighed the taller male. "Rin, I'm sure she is fine. She is strong. Stronger than you could ever imagine." He said before he left the room.

As he closed the door, he leaned against the white wood only to hear the muffled cries of Rin.

"What have I done?" Muttered Sousuke looking at the ceiling.

"Yamazaki-senpai, uhm... it's time for practice... Rin-senpai..." Said Nitori approaching the taller male.

"He needs a little time off... I'll take over for now." He said as he started to walk with the silver haired boy.

"Rin-senpai seems so destroyed without Nayna-san..." Said the kouhai worried. "I hope they'll manage to solve whatever problem they got...I hate seeing Rin-senpai like that..."

"Yeah...me too..." Muttered Sousuke.

"Uhm...sorry to ask but...how is your shoulder?" Asked Nitori taking Sousuke by complete surprise. "I mean...she stepped-"

"It's fine..." He said walking faster.

After half an hour after the beginning of the practice, Rin showed up to everyone's surprise.

"Rin? Are you alright?" Asked Sousuke approaching his friend.

"Yeah... Besides, the prefecturals are in a couple days." He reassured.

Sousuke looked at him unconvinced but let it slide.

During practice though, Sousuke could see that Rin was out of it. His swimming was a mess as was his attention. Gritting his teeth, he quickly grabbed his phone and left the building.

Hiding behind a wall, away from praying eyes, he quickly dialed a number, looking around, making sure no one was around.

"Hey man...I need your help... She's gone...Yeah she... She's been gone for almost two weeks now. My friend is devastated. He's worried sick. Please... Can you find something out? Thanks." He said before he hung up, looking around again, making sure he was not seen.

That evening, Sousuke met Rin in their dorm room. Sousuke looked at the red head worried but tried to hide it.

"Been to her place again?"

"Yeah... I still hope she'd be there... Every time I'm disappointed..."

"Rin, I'm sure she'll be back when she's ready."

"Maybe but... I can't shake this feeling..." He muttered, his right hand grabbing his shirt just above his heart. "Since Friday I kept having this nightmare that I'm drowning... I can't see much, just patches of metal or something... I don't know... I just ... I'm scared that something happened to her..." He explained, taking a deep breath from time to time.

Sousuke looked at him surprised.

"Tomorrow we'll settle in the hotel for the prefecturals... Think you can do it?"

"I have to. It's my only chance to be scouted."

"Yeah... But lately your swimming was messed up since-"

"I know. I'll find a way." Sighed the red head before falling back on his mattress.
