"Miss Cheryl?" Britta's voice sounded from the doorway of the painting room. She was standing on the threshold, with one leg crossed over the other, patiently waiting for a response from her caretaker.

Cheryl looked up from the painting she was currently working on, a small smile plastered on her face. "Yes my dear?" She said in an extremely calm and loving voice.

Ever since Britta moved in with her a couple of weeks ago, Cheryl had found herself in a much calmer and relaxed state. The poor cherub lost her home and the people she grew up with abandoned her, something Cheryl could highly relate to. That's why having Britta in her home gave Cheryl a sense of unity, a sense of harmony. Maybe even a sense of amity.

Of course she was used to the company by now, Juniper and Dagwood had been living under her roof for quite some time now. Nothing could beat their cute little faces and the innocence they carried with them, but they were simply too young. Too inexperienced in life.

Britta understood.

"By the way, you don't have to call me miss anymore, it's just Cheryl." She said before Britta was able to speak.

Britta seemed delighted, knowing how hard it was for Cheryl to let people in. She felt honoured. "Okay...uhm Cheryl, I just came to say that, when I was going through some of my stuff I came across some pictures. And I must have switched up the piles or something because they weren't...mine." Britta said awkwardly, hoping Cheryl wouldn't freak out.

"That's okay doll, no worries." Cheryl said, not completely sure why this was relevant.

Britta looked at Cheryl with a hint of discomfort on her face, not sure if she should clarify on what exactly she saw. "uhm...I...I didn't know...you and miss Topaz dated back in the day." She said carefully, afraid to cross any boundaries.

Cheryl placed her brush down and stared blankly at the piece of art in front of her, suddenly feeling very much alone again.

"We did" Cheryl simply said without looking at the younger redhead. "Toni and I dated for 3 years to be precise."

Britta nodded, feeling the tension in the air. "Yeah...that's it. I guess I was just a little too nosy." She said before she turned around, about to leave the room.

Cheryl sighed, knowing Britta was just trying to show an interest in her life and that she herself was the one who was acting immature. "No wait Britta." Cheryl thought for a few seconds before finally giving her an answer. "I'll gladly look through some of the photos with you." She said giving Britta a tiny smile.

Cheryl could tell by the sparkle in Britta's eyes that this was the right thing to do, especially if she ever truly wanted to gain her trust. "If you could bring them downstairs then I'll make some tea in the meantime." She said wiping her hands clean from the dusty brush.

Britta hummed, "yes of course." She said before running off, hoping to finally get some answers to the questions she'd been having, regarding Cheryl's secret life.

Cheryl looked at the dusty covers of the albums that lay before her eyes, they hadn't been touched in over 5 years now. "You can flip the pages Britta." Cheryl said trying to maintain her distance as if to shield herself from any unexpected and unwanted emotions.
