Cheryl overhears a conversation and it upsets her, but of course Toni knows exactly how to soothe her girlfriend.
*Fluff
-It was a Friday afternoon. Cheryl only had one more class to attend to before the weekend could be celebrated. Toni, unfortunately, wasn't in this class with her, because she decided it was better to stick with regular English instead of AP English like Cheryl.
Cheryl had tried to convince Toni to choose AP English so they would be in every class together. She even suggested to tutor her if the curriculum appeared to be too difficult. However Toni knew she wasn't on that level and that it would be stupid to force something that she actually didn't care that much about.
-
Cheryl and Toni shared a quick peck before heading into separate directions. "love you." Toni said before turning her back to her girlfriend to go to her regular English class.
"Love you." Cheryl said back as she watched her precious girl walk away. She didn't yet enter the classroom, because Toni usually looked around one more time before disappearing around the corner.
Toni adored how Cheryl waited for a last glance, even though they would see each other again in only two hours. She waited extra long this time to tease Cheryl a bit and make her a little anxious.
Finally when she reached the corner she turned around and blew her girl a kiss. Some people would probably consider it cringy, but seeing her girlfriend's cute smile was most definitely worth all the weird faces in the world.
Cheryl formed a little heart with her hands in response before making her way to the classroom thinking about how lucky she was to be with a girl like Toni.
She was about to push the door open when she heard voices inside. It sounded like they were gossiping about something or perhaps someone.
"I know right, like why would she pick her. A girl with literally a million problems." An unknown girl to Cheryl said to what it seemed like two other girls. "I mean Toni could have anyone, so it doesn't make sense that she would want to be with a freak like Cheryl."
Cheryl's chest instantly tightened as she heard her own name and Toni's name being whispered by a bunch of strangers. Her heart was beating incredibly fast as she continued to eavesdrop on the girls' conversation.
"I'm sure it's just because Cheryl's the prettiest lesbo in school. She feels bad, because no one else would ever want to date her." A girl whose voice she recognised from the cheer squad said.
"Right! I literally just saw them kiss in the hallway. Like, we don't need to see that." The third girl added.
The words didn't exactly reach Cheryl's brain yet, but they cut very deep into her heart. Her eyes welled up with tears as she stared at the ground, looking for an answer or a solution to why this was happening. Why her.
"Hey Cheryl, something wrong?" Mr. Bennett said. He was suddenly standing right behind her and scared Cheryl a little.
Cheryl hastily wiped one cheek dry before meeting her teacher's eyes. "No no I'm fine, I was about to go in." She nodded and gave him a little smile to convince him.
"Sure? You look a little distressed. If you need some time just tell me alright." He ensured her.
"That's kind, but I'm fine, really." Cheryl said as she entered the classroom, keeping her eyes on her own shoes.
She could literally feel three pairs of eyes on her as she found a seat on the other side of the room, near the window.
"Yeah please dyke go sit as far away from us as possible." The girl from the cheer squad whispered just loud enough for Cheryl to hear.
