"I'm very glad for you T. Just make sure you treat her with respect okay?" Toni's dad said as he looked up from his newspaper.
"Dad you know me, I'll protect Cheryl with all my heart. I would never hurt her." Toni had just told him about Cheryl and that she was now officially her girlfriend.
Toni and Cheryl had been unofficially dating for the past 5 months now, but about a week ago Cheryl had asked Toni to be her girlfriend. She had asked her when they were both just lying in bed and stroking each other's arms. It might have been a simple moment, but it was still beautiful.
"I know you wouldn't T. So uhmm..." Toni's dad looked at Toni with a hint of discomfort in his face. He barely made eye contact with her. "You need anything for the uhmm....you know."
Toni's eyebrows scrunched together as she tried to unravel her father's words. "Need anything for what?"
Toni's dad sighed and closed the newspaper. He cleared his throat before saying what he wanted to say. "Do you need anything to keep things safe. You know when you're....when you know...you and her...together you..."
Toni laughed as she knew exactly what he was talking about now. "Yeah you can say it pop. It starts with an sssss. Remind me, what's the word again?" Toni pressed her finger against her temple like she was thinking hard about what could possibly be the answer.
"When y'all are having sex. Is there anything you need?" Toni's father's cheeks were red and he seemed to have a hard time keeping a casual face.
Toni grinned, glad that she got it out of him, because there's no need to be embarrassed about a fricking word she thought. "Well thanks dad, but I think I'll be fine, got some experience you know."
"You sure?" He now said with concern in his voice. "I know you both can't get pregnant or anything, but there's other stuff you should be aware of too."
"I know, I know dad. Don't worry alright, I've got it under control." Toni said sincerely. She actually really appreciated that her dad wanted her to be safe and that he would always have her back, but she knew how to handle these things.
Cheryl had not been Toni's first or second....or even third, however she was definitely her first ever love. Like love love. So making sure that they were being safe and careful, but especially that Cheryl felt protected was more important than anything to Toni.

Toni is with Cheryl now
"He would literally go into the store and buy me whatever I need. Don't you think that's cute." Toni said as she pulled her arms through Cheryl's shirt. Even when they were together they would still wear each other's clothes.
Cheryl looked at her girlfriend with a puzzled expression on her face. "You talk to your dad about that stuff? About us?" It wasn't like she was mad at Toni or anything, but it definitely surprised her. Maybe because she could never imagine talking to her own mom about that sort of thing.
Toni quickly brushed through her hair as she was getting ready for the night. "Yeah sure. Of course I don't talk to him in detail about the stuff we do, but I mean it's not something I think we should be embarrassed about so why not talk about it right."
Cheryl looked down at her nails for a second before meeting her girlfriend's eyes. "Yeah I guess."
"Haven't you ever talked to your mom about it?" Toni asked casually as she was searching for her phone.
