Cheryl and Toni are both high school teachers at the same school. Today is the first day of school, but Cheryl feels insecure.

"I will see you at lunch, you got this babe." Toni said before pecking her wife on the lips. Even though they both had been doing this for 4 years now, Toni knew her wife was always a little extra nervous on the first day.
Cheryl stared into the brunettes eyes for one last time, before they went into separate directions. "Thank you love, I will see you at lunch."
Cheryl really loved her profession. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge with children who were still discovering their own interests, skills and passions. However sometimes, it was also a challenge to keep her students motivated and to maintain their attention.

"Hi everyone, my name is Cheryl, but you all may call me miss Blossom." Cheryl said as she scanned all of the freshman in her class. "I am 29 years old and I have a wife named Toni and she is a teacher here as well."
Cheryl noticed a few boys in the back of the class exchanging eye contact when she told them about her wife. She could also hear a girl whisper to her friend that she wasn't expecting that, because she looked so pretty.
Cheryl had gotten used to the weird facials and slightly inappropriate comments whenever she told her new students about Toni. Nevertheless, it still hurt her feelings a little. To her this was definitely an indication that they were still living in a very hetero normative society.
A girl raised her hand as Cheryl was about to tell them about a few other facts about herself. "Ah yes, what's your question...uhm... Madison?" Cheryl smiled. She had read the girl's name on the little piece of paper in front of her on her desk.
"I think I saw you kiss your wife this morning in the parking lot." Madison said with a little grin on her face as she looked at her classmates who were smirking as well.
Cheryl was slightly taken aback by this remark. "Yes, that could be possible. Sometimes when people love each other, they kiss." Cheryl raised her brows to let the girl know she wasn't expecting a reaction back from her.
Toni and Cheryl had agreed to not kiss or be touchy when they were at the school, but sometimes before work, when it was still early they would share a quick peck on the lips in the parking lot. Like, for instance, this morning.
"I wanna see two hot chicks kiss." One of the boys closest to Cheryl whispered to his friend right next to him. The other boy playfully pushed his shoulder, nodded and laughed like he had said the funniest thing.
Cheryl took a deep breath and pretended to be oblivious. She knew it was wrong, but she wasn't exactly the standing-up-for-herself type, especially not in front of the entire class.
She continued the lesson and everything seemed to be going pretty well. After an hour the bell rang and the lesson was over. Everyone immediately left the classroom, while Cheryl sorted a few things on her computer.
The boy who whispered something to his friend earlier came up to the redhead and left her a little note. Cheryl looked at it confused, but it was already too late to say something as the boy had already run out of the room.
Cheryl unfolded the mysterious piece of paper and read the word written on it in bold letters. She shook her head, squeezed the paper into a ball and threw it in the trash.

"Babe." Cheryl whispered into Toni's ear, she was standing behind her, hanging slightly over her to get her attention. Toni was talking to one of their colleagues, but immediately looked up as she saw her wife. "Hey." Toni said, a little confused as why Cheryl would interrupt her conversation. It wasn't something Cheryl would normally do.
"I am so sorry to interrupt." Cheryl exclaimed, looking between her wife and the other teacher. "But can I please talk to you for a moment Toni?"
A tear rolled down Cheryl's cheek as she spoke to her wife, which she wiped away with her fist as quickly as possible.
"Of course." The brunette was on her feet within a few seconds as she noticed the distress in her girl's eyes. She wrapped her arm around her waist and guided her to the back of the room.
"Hey what's going on." Toni said while caressing her wife's back gently. "Did something happen?"
Cheryl nodded without looking at Toni yet. "I just don't know if I can do this job."
"What Cher? You're great at your job." Toni kept her hand on Cheryl's back even though they wouldn't normally touch each other like this at work.
Cheryl looked up into Toni's eyes. "Some of these kids are just so incredibly mean and I can't stand up for myself."
Toni held Cheryl's chin with her finger and pushed her head up just a little. "Yes you can babe. If you don't like what they're saying to you, you tell them to stop talking. And if they don't, you'll simply send them to the principal's office."
The redhead nodded and smiled unconvincingly. "I know."
Cheryl's face was as red as a tomato and Toni could tell that she was pushing down all of her emotions and feelings. "You don't have to be so hard on yourself babe. Come here." Toni pulled her wife into a tight hug and whispered in her ear how much she loved her. She placed a quick kiss on her lover's cheek before letting go of her again. Breaking their no-kiss rule for the first time.
Toni wiped a few of Cheryl's tears away with her thumb and gave her wife some time to say something if she wanted to.
"Why don't we go outside for a minute, it might help to breathe in some fresh air babe." Toni proposed after about a minute.
Cheryl nodded and smiled. "Yes that's a good idea."
Cheryl and Toni walked around the sports field in silence. Toni thought it would be better to continue their conversation at home when they weren't surrounded by teenagers, so she decided to ask the redhead about something else. "So remind me babe, what book were you reading at the moment?"
Cheryl looked up at Toni with a little sparkle visible in her teary eyes. She was very passionate about books and gladly shared her perspective on the stories she read with her wife. "I'm currently reading the Time Machine...again...you know it's a very fascinating story TT."
Toni smiled at her wife and listened to her voice as she talked about the hidden lessons in the book. Without thinking for long about it Toni softly lay her hand on her wife's cheek and placed a kiss on her lips.
"Toni I...what about our no-kiss rule?" She said with a cute little grin on her face.
"I know, but I just had to kiss you. I literally love you so much."
"I love you too."
Toni pulled on Cheryl's arm so that she stopped walking. "You know I'm always near right.....You don't have to be insecure, because you're not alone. Ever."
Cheryl smiled sincerely now. "I know."
