Cheryl and Toni reunite after a long time, however Cheryl isn't exactly in a very sober state.
*Fluff
-It was 2:09 AM and Cheryl was on her fourth cocktail of the night, attempting to down her negative feelings with the liquor entering her body. Veronica had been dancing next to her, but had recently found another partner to swing with. A man.
The dizziness in Cheryl's head only grew more intense with each sip she took from her piña colada, but she enjoyed the feeling of being a little unhinged. It made her feel like she wasn't really fully there anymore and therefore didn't really have to care about anything.
Cheryl's eyes were closed and her fingers were tangled in her own hair as she danced to the music, when she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was like she had to wake up again as she stared into Veronica's dark brow eyes.
Veronica seemed to be a lot less drunk than herself, but she definitely was not sober either. "I am going home with Kaden. So I can't give you a ride back home, I'm sorry." Veronica winked at Cheryl and pointed at the direction of the entrance as she spoke to the taller girl.
"Do you...know this boy?" Cheryl shouted into the latina's ear to overpower the loud music.
Veronica instantly nodded and began to smile like the boy was the love of her life. "Yes of course Cher, I've known him for several hours now."
Cheryl wanted to respond, but the alcohol in her blood made her brain all fuzzy. So before there was anything she could tell her bestfriend she had already waved her a goodbye and made her way to the exit.
The redhead took another sip of her drink, but realised that she had reached the bottom. She made her way over to the bar and ordered a margarita, craving the salt.
"Are you all right?" The bartender asked as soon as she put her hands up on the bar. He seemed nice, but something was off about him. Or perhaps it was just the alcohol.
"I'm gay." Cheryl said within a second, like she needed to protect herself from any potential threats. AKA men.
The man giggled and turned around to put a few glasses away. "That's brilliant, but I wasn't asking about your sexuality miss. I was asking if you were alright, because to be quite frank, you don't look like you're enjoying yourself too much."
Cheryl had already forgotten about half of the man's words by the time he stopped talking, but she remembered the essential part. "I'm fine, just fine..truly...but I just got ditched by Veronica....Veronica...she is my bestfriend...you wouldn't know that, because she's my bestfriend and you have never met her....and...oh maybe you have met her...I don't kn-"
The man looked at Cheryl with big eyes and a little grin on his face. "Should I call someone for you?"
"Oh no no it's fine, there's someone I can call." Cheryl lied, feeling suddenly overwhelmed by the whole situation. "But thank you." She took her margarita and walked to the other side of the bar.
She took her phone out and stared at it blankly. She hadn't put much thought into the fact that she still had to go home at some point...and she was...hammered.
Betty would have been her first pick if she wasn't in New York with her ratty boyfriend Jughead. Now her parents wouldn't even come get her if she was hanging from the edge of a cliff. Her brother never picked up the phone, so he was useless. Nana Rose couldn't drive. Archie was out of town with his football team. And well....Toni was.....well Toni was her ex.
Cheryl stared at Toni's name on her screen with the little phone icon next to it. She hadn't had a conversation with Toni for almost 2 years now, besides the simple, "how are you doing -fine" texts that happened briefly twice a year.
