Knowing that no one in the hospital knows the truth behind Doctors Hasting experimental drug, is making me nauseas. It hasn't been approved yet, thankfully, but there are talk about moving on to human trials. And I am the only one who can do something about it. I do no longer work on the clinical trial with him, but I hear talk from the nurse who is currently on the project. She seems just as amazed by his brilliance as I did in the beginning. But why shouldn't she? She doesn't know anything about the side effects. I'm sure he has hidden that from her. It's not in any of the rapports. Nothing.
She only sees the amazing effect the drugs have on the brain. And it is amazing. Its life altering. No doubt. But it's too dangerous no matter what Doctor Hasting says. Even if it's only 2 percent who gets the side effect, it's still too much. After what I saw, even 0.01 percent will be too much.
I have been doing some research myself ever since I was removed from the trial. Secretly, of course. What I saw in those cages, has some similarities to rabies.
Rabies is a disease that affects the central nervous system in humans and other carnivores. The symptoms of the disease includes fever, depression, confusion, painful muscle spasms, sensitivity to touch, loud noises and light, extreme thirst, painful swallowing, excessive Salivation and loss of muscle tone.
If I'm right, and this drug somehow share the symptoms of the rabies disease, than it can be fatal. I need to tell the chief. I can't keep it to myself anymore.
I gather up my old reports from the monitoring of specimen 119, the observations I did later on along with my concerns of the symptoms similarities to Rabies and then march into the chiefs office.
"What the hell...?" The chief looks at me questioningly.
"I'm sorry, sir. But I need you to cancel the human trials for Doctor Hastings drug."
"Why is that?" He leans back in his chair and cross his arms.
"I have some concerns about some of the side effects."
"What side effects? Hastings's report says nothing about side effects."
"I know. He removed it. Here is my report form my time on the trail along with some of my concerns afterwards. Please, you can't let him move on to human trails."
"That is a serious accusation. Are you sure?"
"Yes sir."
"Alright. I'll look it over."
"thank you sir." Finely the weight has been lifted of my shoulders. I have done my duty. Now I can only pray that his threats against my family, isn't serious.

"6 year old girl. Unconscious. Bleeding heavily from a blunt force trauma to the head." The paramedics hurries the patient inside and Doctor Hastings swiftly directs them to an operation room. On his way he yells to me.
