Andrew
2039"OPEN!" I roar as I reach the gate with the seemingly lifeless girl in my arms. Now that I'm regaining my speech, I struggle to calculate the volume.
"Forget it." The guard says. "You are still not getting in. We don't want freaks like you inside the gate."
Arrogant prick. I snort. Clearly, he doesn't get the significance of who I'm carrying. But I know who she is. I recognize her scent.
"OPEN!" I roar once more. This time even higher and the guard covers his ears.
"Shut UP!" he screams and points his weapon at me.
I know a lot of the people in here still sees me as a monster. That most of them would kill me, given the chance, but as long as Alec is in charge, no one dares to try.
"ALEC!" I yell, while hating how much I sound like a spoiled brat, calling for his mommy because someone is teasing. "ALEC!"
Thankfully, I see him now, coming around the corner, slightly jogging. It is very likely that he already sensed that it was something important as soon as I yelled the first time. A classic Alec move.
"Andrew, what's wrong?" He asks before he even reach the gate. With only one look from Alec, the guard lower his weapon and steps out of the way.
"The girl," I say while trying to find the right words. "One of yours." I turn the body in my arms slightly, so the red hair falls away from her face. "One of yours." I repeat as I see the recognition in Alec's eyes.
"OPTEN THE GODDAMN GATE!" Shouts Alec with a voice that demands to be obeyed, and within seconds I'm stepping into the prison yard for the first time.
I keep my eyes locked onto the guard as I walk in. I have this strange expectation that he suddenly will shoot me when I'm least expecting it. I don't even dare to breathe until Alec steps in front of me to feel the girl's pulse.
"She's alive." He breaths out in relief. "But just barely. Andrew, come with me. We need to get her to Simon. He is her best chance of survival right now."
I nod sternly and signal for the rest of my pack to return to our lair.
"Simon!" Alec bursts through the door while calling for the guy who is always giving me the injections. "We need you. NOW!"
"Alec?" Simon looks up from his desk, where he is in the midst of examining the blood, he is using to cure me. The smell of it is pulling at me. I can't tear my eyes away from the test tubes.
"It's Clary." Says Alec and points to the girl in my arms. Simon looks towards me, and before his gaze reaches the girl, I can tell he sees the hunger in my eyes. Instantly, he removes the test tubes and lock them away safely. Along with the intoxicating smell.
"Bring her here." Simon moves towards a different table, which he clears rapidly. I lay her down on the table while ignoring his gaze. I'm ashamed of what he saw. Of what I was so close to doing.
