2039 Alec
"I'm going down there." I say and hand Magnus my bow.
"But..." he looks at me in chock as I begin to walk away. "Wait!" he screams, and I turn to look at him. "You don't know if it's safe."
"Don't worry. I have backup." I nod towards the towers. "Besides, I have a feeling that he isn't going to hurt me."
"But you can't be sure... Alexander, please stay with me."
"Babe... I'm always with you." I pull him closer and hug him tight. "I love you. Don't worry, I'll be fine." Then I kiss him and hurry down from the roof. I can hear Magnus swearing at me, but I really do believe that the creature won't hurt me. I don't know why, but I can just sense it.
As I move closer to the gate the creature locks his gaze on me and this time he isn't shouting or growling. Instead, he speaks in a normal volume.
"Talk."
"Alright." I nod sternly. "We'll talk." But I stay a few feet away from the gate as I talk to him. No need to push my luck. Magnus will kill me if something happens.
"Talk..." He nods towards me.
"You want me to talk?" I ask confused and he nods. "But... I don't know what you want to talk about...?" I search his eyes for any kind of answer to what the fuck it is he wants me to do, and suddenly Simon is by my side. I hadn't even noticed he had followed me.
"Maybe he can't use his entire vocabulary. The disease eats their brain, remember?"
"Right..." I mutter, "but then what the hell am I going to do?"
"Hmm..." Simon ponders for a while then snaps his fingers. "Oh, of course. I usually interpret Jakob's growls and movements,"
"I know," I interrupt "but I don't think now is the time to be discussing your weird habits..."
He shoots me a look like I'm the one being stupid right now and then continues.
"I always talk to him. Asks him questions so I can interpret his responses because he doesn't have a language anymore."
"Oh." Now I do feel a bit stupid, that I didn't get it right away. "Right... okay, so I'll just ask questions and he can respond in his own way." I look back at the Anthroe who almost seems to be smiling, but I must be imagining it. "Why are you here?" I ask.
"Revenge...!" his words are almost dripping with hatred, and it sends some kind a shockwave through the other creatures. They all start growling deep down in their throats and I catch myself stepping back a few steps.
"On us...?" I ask slightly nervous. I can clearly see the madness in his eyes right now. In all of their eyes, in fact.
He shakes his head and points to his neck instead.
