Roselia

"Are you going into town again, Rose?"

I looked up at my eight-year-old sister as soon as I finished zipping up my messenger bag, filled to the brim with plastic utensils, water bottles, and containers of some leftover fried fish fillets Mom made last night. I let out a lighthearted chuckle as I slung the bag over my shoulder and walked over to Cindy with a smile. "I am, Cindy," I replied, "You know what to do." Cindy pouted at me before crossing her arms and turning away.

"Fine! But I'm not sure how much longer I can cover for you before Mommy and Daddy find out," Cindy grumbled. I chuckled once more in response, but deep down I knew that Cindy did make a good point. I had been doing this in secret for the past three years. I remembered that at some point between now and then Cindy caught wind of me going out into town almost every week. I was surprised that Mom and Dad never found out about it.

"I know, I know," I reassured my sister, "We all just have to do what we have to do, right?" Cindy looked back at me with her arms still crossed. "Yeah...just...just make sure you're back before Mommy and Daddy get back, okay?" Cindy pleaded. I smiled at her and nodded before backing away to the front door. I turned around to open the door properly before turning to Cindy one last time. "I will, I promise. I'll see you later!" With that, I closed the door and pressed my back against it with a relieved sigh.

Although Cindy found out about me going out into town every week, I never told her what it was for. I knew that she would freak if she found out of my intentions for Mom's leftovers. I tried not to think too much of it as I walked to the garage where my bike was sitting. I took my messenger bag off of my shoulder and put it down in the basket behind the seat. I then climbed onto my bike and kicked my foot on the pavement to get me moving.

With that, I made my way to the busy city streets of Lucella.

The city was nothing but alive on this Saturday morning. The restaurants, the stores, and the sidewalks were all bursting with life. Many different species of animals walked, talked, and did so much more. A huge smile formed on my face as I rode down the bike lane on the side of the road. The further I went, the less people were there. Although it seemed odd to others when I came this way, I had a reason for it. An extremely good one, in my opinion.

One that I would definitely get punished for if Mom and Dad caught wind of it.

I noticed that I had passed the art gallery on my right, meaning that I was getting close to my destination. My suspicions were soon confirmed once I reached the alleyway between a hotel and a restaurant. That was my stop. I quickly parked my bike next to the entrance of the alley and hopped off before taking my messenger bag out of the basket. I slung the bag over my shoulder before grabbing the handles of my bike and turning around to check for others.

Once I confirmed that the coast was clear, I walked into the alleyway with my bike. I went passed a television shop, one whose owner I was familiar with. After passing the restaurant, I reached a door that sat tucked away in the corner of the alleys. I did one final check to make sure I wasn't being watched or followed before opening the door, dragging my bike in, and closing it behind me. I leaned my bike against the wall next to the door before turning around and walking around a corner.

My smile only grew bigger as I noticed the familiar metal door mere feet away from me. I snuck through it as my grip on my messenger bag tightened. I soon found myself in a hall with another metal door at the end of it. I turned to my messenger bag as I walked down said hall towards it. "I hope they'll like this," I thought nervously to myself, "This was really hard to get my hands on." I shook my head and mentally berated myself for acting negatively. I finally reached the door and slowly creaked it open.
