️TW!! EXTREME BLOOD AND GORE!!⚠️

Lucinda

Lucinda meant light in a human language long forgotten.

If that was the case, then one "light" had to turn another one on, and the first was starting to get agitated. Although I managed to find the final battery, the diver kept getting in my way every time I tried to get close to the lighthouse. It was starting to get annoying. Something was different about the infected. They seemed to always know where I was at all times. They just didn't start chasing me until I came into their field of view. It was odd, but I had better things to worry about than them.

Fortunately, I managed to sneak past him and made my way into the lighthouse again. It took a lot of convincing to get Georgie to go back to the others, but I managed thanks to the zebra twins. I went up the spiral staircase to the only red battery compartment there was. Once I was there, I put the battery in. Now that all four batteries were in their compartments, the only thing left for me to do was to turn huge light at the top of the tower on.

As if on cue, the four respective compartments began to work their magic. I let out a gasp before I bolted up the spiral stairs that seemed to go on forever. Once I finally reached the top, the massive light decided to turn on. It felt more like a tactical nuke than a light thanks to how bright it was. Then again, I was only a few centimeters away from it. My hands immediately flew up to my face to cover my eye from the massive light.

The sound of a ship's horn filled my ears shortly after.

I turned around and managed to find the railing at the edge of the platform with my hands. Once I had a firm grip on it, I removed my other hand from my face. Surely enough, a ship had arrived and parked next to the dock. "Woah..." I muttered under my breath as I stared at the massive ship. Turning back to the others, who also seemed surprised at the ship's arrival, made me realize how big it was and how tiny we were.

My gaze went back to the ship. It had the most beautiful combination of red and black. There were tons of smoke stacks standing tall above the night sky. There were multiples windows covering the ship like chicken pox. The ship's anchor had just been released and was now making its way down to the ocean floor. There was a large white "building" on the upper level of the ship. This was the first time I had ever seen anything like this, so I had no idea what it all was. I looked down to read the name on the ship.

The Medora.

There was hope for us after all. My efforts weren't meaningless. I assumed that after the infection broke out, some people gathered their loved ones and went out to sea to prevent exposure to themselves and their loved ones. It seemed like a smart idea in my opinion. The only stops they would have to make were when they were low on supplies and fuel. I wondered if that was what the driver of the Medora did. Either way, I hoped that they didn't mind a few extra passengers.

I turned back around and ran for the stairs. I couldn't stay in one place for too long, not without risking being caught by the diver. Once I was below the platform, I quickly moved my gaze to the floor as I ran down the stairs. The others were probably waiting for me at the dock, so I needed to get there as soon as possible. There were some parts of the railing missing, which I found odd, but I opted to not think too much into it. I had to save my brainpower for other things. Before long, I had reached the bottom of the stairs.

Unfortunately, the very infected I didn't want to see was there.

I was starting to get infuriated with them by that point. They had been nothing but a bloody migraine in the back of my head ever since we first got here. I only had one goal, and they were in my way. Willow already knew the price she had to pay for standing in my way, and I was certain that the message got across to her. The infected were the ones who didn't know. I hoped that they had some sort of telepathic connection with one another. That way, they'd be able to warn each other about my arrival. They would be scared of me.
