Lucinda

We were closer to Doveport than I thought.

Pony helped Zee off of the Medora's ladder and carried her safely onto the dock. It reminded me a lot of how my parents and sister used to carry me. After realizing what I was doing, I mentally shook my head. "No, forget about them, Cindy," I demanded. "You're going to end up like them if you don't." I shoved my hands into my pockets as I fixated my gaze to the ground below. Once we were all off the ship, Budgey came down the ladder.

"Thanks to you mateys getting the fuel, we managed to dock here," Budgey stated while turning her gaze to me and the wolf beside me. "I wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors!" Willow let out a huff, causing me to turn and face her. She was looking somewhere else, and upon further inspection, I noticed another boat nearby. "Yeah, well, I don't think 'luck' is going to stop that tiger. Looks like he's already here." Tigry. I hadn't seen him since the factory. I knew he had taken that key.

As I was staring at the boat, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I nearly jumped out of my skin until I realized that it was Pony. "Cindy and I are going to find a way to the surface," Pony stated firmly. "The rest of you should stick here." Everyone seemed on board with the idea. Before I had the chance to speak, Pony took my hand and dragged me away from the others. What has gotten into him? I wanted to speak, but I opted to keep my mouth shut as I moved the hand Pony has holding to a comfortable position for myself.

We walked by a staircase leading upwards, but Pony didn't stop walking until we reached a further one, away from the earshot of the others. I was too busy looking up towards the darkness above us that I didn't realize Pony letting go of my hand. "Alright, buddy, let's find a way to the surface," he suggested as he turned to me. "Whatever's going on up there doesn't sound like fun." I turned to look at him before looking back upwards. "You're telling me," I replied to him.

This wasn't going to be easy.

Suddenly, Pony playfully elbowed me. "Hey, I'll go first if you've got a carrot to convince me with," he joked with a smile. The dark circles under his cloudy green eyes and the struggle to keep his mouth still told me that he was also struggling to think positive. I decided to help him out a bit. "Everytime you want carrots, I find them. It shouldn't be that difficult," I responded while elbowing him back in the same manner. For the first time since we lost Zizzy, he chuckled.

I ran past Pony before grabbing onto the railing of the stairs infront of us and running upwards. Pony was quick to follow me as soon as I reached the top and began to look around. Right off the bat, I noticed a green key sitting on a bench at the top of the stairs. "Oh, boy..." I breathed as I walked up to the bench and grabbed it. I turned around in time to see Pony reach the top. "I found a key," I informed him while holding up said key. "That means that there's an infected here."

Pony eyes turned to the ground and narrowed. "We have to be careful, then," he added, and I nodded in agreement shortly after. I decided to look around the docks, and I saw a bunch of things. I had no idea what majority of the stuff was, but I could tell that there were tons of barrels and crates of who knows what scattered about. Although it was slightly foggy, I managed to make out a door with a green lock a few yards away.

"Come on," I muttered as I gestured for Pony to follow me to the door. Once we reached it, I didn't hesitate to unlock the door. Pony and I were met with a metal railing on the other side. There were also a few benches sitting around the place. On my right were two doors going to what I assumed to be more areas of the dock, while a slightly cracked stone wall was on my left. I decided to go down the path on the left to see what the bench on the other side had.
