Lucinda
The "Insolence" could watch my every move if it wanted to. I didn't really care.
There were countless black and orange eyes all over the place. I opted to ignore them at first, but I could always feel them on me no matter where I was. It was starting to get annoying, but I couldn't do anything about it. I had better things to worry about, and those eyes were purposely trying to distract me. In addition to the eyes, the incoherent whispers gradually appeared in my head the closer I got to one of said eyes.
My anger got the better of me and I ended up punching the wall where an eye was. It wasn't my smartest nor proudest moment, but it was a moment nonetheless. What I found surprising was that the eye disappeared from its place on the wall shortly after I had punched it. Soon, I found myself doing the same thing to the other eyes I found around the place. My fists were bleeding by the time I was done. That was how I currently found myself walking towards the third building. For some reason, I couldn't open it.
There was some strange music coming from the other side. It sounded like someone was inside, but who? The door wouldn't open on its own, so I assumed that it was barricaded on the other side. I bit my lip as I felt the hairs on my shoulders stand up. Something was off about the door, but I couldn't come up with an idea as to what. Someone was inside, and they might need my help. I let out a shaky sigh as I lifted my closed hand upward towards the door.
I knocked on the door three times.
"Hello?" I asked. "Is anyone in there?" I was met with nothing but silence. I slowly moved my hand downwards in slight defeat. My mind must've been playing tricks on me. Why would anyone be here at a time like this? The infection had probably reached its lowest point by now. Whoever was in there before had probably already fled or turned into one of them. "I guess no one is in there..." I muttered to myself as I prepared to turn and leave.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and I was tackled to the ground.
As I felt strange arms swinging at me, I looked up to inspect my attacker. It looked to be some sort of legless creature with a completely black body. It had glowing white scleras with black pupils, complete with an eerie smile filled of sharp and white teeth. What was this thing? I let out a loud yelp as the creature climbed over me. Another yelp was cut off when I felt the creature grab the scarf and start to drag me down the street and around the cars. I was quick to pull my gun out from my belt and shoot the creature.
The scream it let out was interesting to say the least.

"What is that?"
"I have no idea, but it's dead now, so it doesn't really matter anymore."
I dragged the strange creature to the others who were waiting by the docks. I was about to throw it into the water when Zuzy's voice stopped me. Eventually, I finally did what I came to the dock to do and dragged the body towards the water. "I think this thing tried to maul me to death," I added for no particular reason. I used all of my strength to throw the body into the water. I wiped my hands on the beige trench coat before turning around and heading towards and up the stairs. That was all I had come here to do.
I had already found a third battery, so I went into the lighthouse to put it in one of the compartments. The second battery had been on a bench sitting on the roof of the lighthouse. That meant that I needed to find one more. Hallelujah. That stupid diver and that weird creature had made me absolutely done with this port. I was about to go down the stairs, but I noticed the diver putting a bear trap down by the entrance, causing me go quickly turn around and head back up.
