"Cindy!"
Georgie ran up to me with a smile on his face before throwing his arms around me. The fact that I was covered in blood didn't seem to bother him. I felt my cheeks heat up as I awkwardly put my hand on his back. After a few moments, he pulled away. "How's Giraffy?" I questioned as I walked past the pig. "He's doing okay. Luckily you had enough supplies in that first aid kit of yours," Georgie replied. Then he realized something. "Oh! Right! Here's your trench!" I allowed for him to help me put it back on.
Pony, Mimi and Giraffy were conversing amongst themselves while the T.S.P members embraced one another happily. Giraffy had an arm around Mimi's shoulders while Mimi had an arm on Giraffy's back. The trio let Georgie and I into the conversation when we arrived. Things were normal at first, but a cry from Katie made me flinch the smallest bit. "Willow, stop! They saved our lives!" She yelled. I turned around to see none other than the wolf herself behind us. She was pointing her gun directly at me with one arm while the other supported the former.
"And yet they destroyed mine!" Willow protested. She was about to fire a bullet at me, and I was more than ready to deflect her bullet when a new voice called out to me. "Cindy! look out!" I turned to my right to see Zee and Zuzy running towards us, fencing foils in their hands. I assumed that that was what they needed to get back at the Safe Place. Willow's face was filled with confusion as she stared the zebra sisters down. "Wait... who are you?!" She questioned with a tilt of her head.
Pony spoke up before I could. "These are Zizzy's sisters," he explained. "You took their older sister away from them!" Something in Willow snapped, and her pathetic "tough guy" act immediately vanished. Her eyes widened at Pony's words as she lowered her gun a few centimeters. "She had... sisters...?" She asked in fear. Suddenly, a dagger flew towards the wolf and knocked her gun out of her hands and towards us, stopping right at my feet.
I turned to my left to see Tigry standing away from the rest of the group. He had a blank yet angry expression on his face. I didn't fail to notice the key hanging from his belt. I had noticed a key missing in Willow's office the second time I went in there. Willow dropped to her knees as she stared at the ground, her breath getting heavier and heavier by the second. Tigry walked away past us and his group before heading deeper into the night. Where he was going was the least of my concerns. "I had no idea..." Willow began.
"...I'm... Sorry..."
There it was.
Those two words were a little overdue to my sister, but right on time for me. Those two words were something she owed us after all the suffering she put us through. Those two words were the ones that Rose had said to Willow, and had longed to hear those same words being said back to her. I could only wonder if she was watching me right now, if she was watching Willow tell us the words she should've told her a long time ago.
"Giraffy's gonna be okay," Mimi stated as I turned to face her. "But he should stay here for a bit... he needs rest." I nodded in understanding. Taking a bullet to the abdomen wasn't easy. I had never faced it myself, but based on the other injuries I had endured, I had a feeling of how it would be. "How do we know he'll be safe here, though?" Pony asked. He had a good point. There could be other infected around, and Mimi wasn't exactly the best at defending herself. Things would only be harder with an injured person.
Katie walked up to us with a smile. "We'll take care of him!" She offered. "It's our way of saying thanks." Pony seemed skeptical about his former friend's offer. We had all come to some silent agreement to trust Pony when he thought something was suspicious after what happened before. "How can we trust you?" He questioned her. Katie seemed understanding of Pony's suspicions and accusations. She only shot him a smile before explaining.
