⚠️TW!! BLOOD AND GORE + HALLUCINATING⚠️
Lucinda
I honestly felt like a character in a horror movie, hiding from the killer and all.
It reminded me of Rose and I hiding from Penny back at the house while we were searching for Georgie. Back then, I was young, dumb and innocent. Times had changed. I had changed. It wasn't a good change, but it was a change. I let out a sigh as I kept my back pressed against the wall of the restaurant by the door, feeling the sweat running down my face. The shopkeeper was on the other side, looking for me. My heart was pounding in my chest, and my body trembled.
A part of me was still scared of the infected. Pathetic.
I closed my eye and bit my lip as I mentally berated myself. "It's been eight months, Lucinda. You know better." I risked a peek through the door, and I nearly let out a sigh of relief as I saw the deer's back towards me. I took that as my opportunity to go out the other door and take the long way back into the dark store. Over the many times I had done this, my ability to see in the dark only grew stronger and stronger. I no longer needed my flashlight to look around dark spaces. However, I still carried it with me.
Once I entered through another door, I found myself in what seemed to be an indoor garden filled with grass and herbs of all sorts. Zizzy would freak out if she saw this. I noticed a glow from inside of the grass, but it was too tall for me to simply take it out. I remembered finding a pair of scissors in the back of the store, so I ran around the grass, into the store and towards the back. Just as I remembered, a bench with a pair of scissors on it sat at the end of the hall. A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I made my way down the hall.
I grabbed the scissors from the bench before turning around and going out the long way as to not risk being seen by the shopkeeper. Luckily, she was on the other side of the store and far from my destination. I snuck behind some shelves as I made my way back to the garden, where large patches of grass were waiting for me. While I didn't exactly like mowing the lawn with my father, I knew how to, both with and without the mower.
I groaned before getting down on my knees in front of the grass and cutting it with the scissors. I kept cutting until I found myself doing it subconsciously. The only sounds that filled my ears were my own soft breaths, the air conditioning from within the walls and the sounds of the scissors cutting the grass. The occasional shuffle to another spot sounded every now and then. My vision grew black, but I could still feel that my eyes were open.
"What's got you so worked up, kiddo?"
I flinched at whipped my head around. Standing directly behind me was none other than my father. The one who dropped me two stories down from the top floor of the gallery so that I could live. He had an all black tuxedo outfit, and there was blood streaming down the side of his face. His scleras and irises were black while his pupils were orange. I sighed and turned back around. "My head is playing tricks on me, Father," I firmly stated. "As much as the child in me wishes to believe otherwise, you aren't real." He grew silent as I turned back around to stare at my lap. My body was still cutting the grass, but my mind was somewhere else.
Suddenly, someone pounced on me from my left and wrapped their arms around me. The figure had a black knee length dress that was laced at the half sleeves. There was blood streaming down her face, too, and the entirety of her eyes were nothing but similar to my father's. "Oh, honey!" My mother soothed."You're just out of it! Don't worry, your mother and father are here to take you away from all of this!" As much as I wanted to believe her, I knew she wasn't real. Besides, something seemed...off about the illusions of my parents.
