Lucinda
"Hey, you! Wait!"
I had gone through the door first after unlocking it in order to make sure it was safe. On the other side were two bridges that suspiciously didn't have railings on them. The drop from said bridges to the ground seemed pretty high from where I was. In front of the bridge was a door, most likely leading to the outside. I had managed to come to the conclusion that the higher I got, the more dangerous things became. The moment I had stepped onto the bridge and begun to walk to the door, I saw someone on the other bridge.
That someone was Tigry.
That was how I found myself staring him down in the middle of the bridge as he reciprocated my actions. "I know that it was you who took the key to Willow's boat. What are you even doing here?" I practically interrogated. Tigry's face softened the smallest bit after I asked him that question. He allowed for his body to loosen before speaking. "I remember your face. Back at the refinery and factory. You tricked me... but you stopped Willow and saved the others." I bit my lip just thinking about the events at the refinery. "Are you... Lucinda Emerson, the sister of detective Roselia Emerson?" The tiger then asked. I could only nod. "Yeah, that's me," I then replied.
"I guess I owe you an apology," Tigry sighed. "Sorry for trying to hunt you. I was just doing what I was told rather than thinking for myself." I bit my lip at his explanation. "I know how you feel, for real this time. Sometimes..." I replied before trailing off. What could possibly be the best thing to say in this situation? Time was short, and my trust in this guy was low. Then it hit me. Someone else had said it once before. It was the only thing that seemed right to me.
"Sometimes... we do things because we have to, not because we want to."
Tigry nodded. "So, Lucinda, what are you doing here?" He asked. I shoved my hands into my pockets before explaining. "We've heard rumors of a cure, so we're here to find it and save a friend." Tigry's eyes widened at my plural references. "She's... she's not here with you, is she?" He asked in a slight panic. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and tilted my head. He seemed so tough just a few moments ago. What on Earth happened?
"Who? Willow?" I attempted to confirm. "She's helping us find it." By mentioning her name, I had managed to make Tigry even more scared than he already was. "Oh no... you're on the wrong side, Lucinda," he tried to explain while staring deep into my eye. "She's using you to get it before me." Yeah, no. I wasn't buying it. While I still didn't trust the wolf entirely, I definitely trusted her more than I did Tigry. Both of them could be lying, for all I know.
The tiger seemed to realize that I didn't believe him, and he stretched his arms outwards in an attempt to get me to agree with him. "Isn't it obvious?!" He stated firmly, his voice louder than it was a few seconds ago. "You of all people should know this, Lucinda. She's not the type to change. She's putting up a show for her own selfish reasons!" The echo that came afterwards made me take a step back. I must've flipped a switch in Tigry after telling him that I was on Willow's side. However, I wasn't going to back down.
"Yeah? Well, why do you want the cure so bad?" I retorted, trying to be as loud as he was. My raspy voice didn't exactly make things easier. Silence consumed the atmosphere once more as we both tried to regain our breaths once more. Pony definitely must've heard what was going on. "To save an old friend of mine. Just like you," Tigry finally answered, still breathless from his shouting. Then, he held his gloved hand out to me. "If you join me, I'll help you get your friend back," he offered.
In all honesty, the offer did seem tempting at first. Willow hasn't exactly been the best person, but neither had Tigry. I wasn't sure if I should trust him, her, or no one at all. At the moment, I was currently considering the latter of the three. Both of them tried to kill me, and both of them had done really bad things. It wasn't a decision I could make in the moment. I needed time to think about it, and I made this known to Tigry. "I don't know you too well, Tigry. You could be just as dishonest as Willow for all I know."
