⚠️TW!! BLOOD, ATTEMPTED STRANGULATION, MENTIONS OF DECOMPOSITION!⚠️
Lucinda
"Okay, Cindy. Let's think about this."
I took a deep breath before continuing to myself while pacing back and forth, my fingers at my chin and my free arm supporting the former arm. "You're stuck between four fallen pillars thanks to those two, the only way out is the door to the side, but the same person who killed Rose is right beyond the door," I recalled to myself for no particular reason. "What do I do, What do I do...?" I couldn't stay here for much longer, but I also didn't want to go through the door where Penny was.
Penny had disappeared from the window a few seconds after I had noticed her a few minutes ago. Now I was left to decide whether I should follow her or not. It was a good thing that Pony and Mimi had Zee, Zuzy and Georgie on the other side, but Willow and Tigry being together would definitely be an issue. With all of the thoughts circling around my head, I groaned loudly. My group of friends didn't hear me, but my two supposed enemies did.
"Just go through the door, kid. What's the worst that could be there?" Willow asked, her voice coming in through the small gap between the pillars in front of me. I let out a sigh and clasped my hands together before bringing them down with another sigh. Then, I turned to the gap. "Listen Willow, I am way too tired to be dealing with whatever complex you have going on," I replied in an annoyed tone. "As for the door? Oh, I don't know... maybe the same person who killed Rose eight months ago?!"
Silence filled the atmosphere shortly after I had boomed my words at the wolf. I found myself pinching the bridge of my nose in annoyance at the fact that Willow didn't exactly understand the situation I was in. Then I remembered that Tigry was on the other side with Willow. "Tigry, you've been awfully quiet," I pointed out after a few more seconds of silence. "Is everything okay on your end?" No response. I knew that Tigry was a very quiet and reserved person, but this was unusual for him. Finally, he replied.
"Yes... I'm alright, Lucinda."
He definitely wasn't alright, but who was I to push him any further. "Cindy! Cindy!" I heard a familiar voice call out suddenly. I turned around before making my way to the other gap. It wasn't big enough for me to see through, but sound could still come and go through it. "Cindy! Are you alright?!" I heard Zuzy ask in slight fear. "I'm alright, Zuzy. There's a door here. I'm going to check that out." I regretted saying that almost instantly after it came out.
"Just- just be careful in there, alright?" Georgie added in a slight panic. I sighed for the third time before putting my hands on my hips. "Alright. I'll try my best. Wish me luck in there." With that, I found myself walking towards the door I had been trying to avoid just a few seconds prior. It definitely seemed better than staying here waiting for help. My hand brushed against the door's cold handle before tightening its grip and pushing downwards. I took a deep breath before slowly creaking the door open.
The other side seemed to be a black void rather than a laboratory.
Although there were a few dim, flickering lights on the ceiling, the lab seemed darker than anything I had ever seen. My eye narrowed at the dark hallway before I turned to my rucksack. I slid one strap off of my arm and used my other arm to hoist my bag in front of me. I then reached into said bag and rummaged around until my hand met the familiar handle of my flashlight. I pulled it out before closing my rucksack and swinging it around so that it was back on my back.
I took a deep breath before turning on my flashlight and allowing for the darkness to consume me whole. The flashlight was the only thing I had as my guide around the darkness. "I’m going to have to look for that cure, then find the others," I informed myself before taking another deep breath. "You’ve been through worse, Cindy. You can do this." I've been through a lot worse. Definitely. I witnessed my family getting murdered, I saw the lives of three of my friends deteriorate, and Death himself was getting impatient at my door.
