⚠️TW!! SHARP BLADES!!⚠️
Lucinda
Pony was standing by a vent leading into darkness.
"Your former...coworkers? I don't know...your former friends of yours are nothing but headaches," I fumed as I walked towards him. "I don't know how you put up with them." Pony shrugged in response. "To this day, I still don't have that answer, Cindy." He turned to the vent behind him before turning back to me. "Got any carrots?" He asked. "I could easily get into this vent and make a distraction with one." I crossed my arms and gave him a look that said, "Really? You want carrots now?"
Pony's cheeks immediately flushed as I sighed and shook my head, turning my gaze to the floor below. "Alright, I'll go get your carrots. I swear, you're addicted to those things," I muttered before walking away from him as fast as I could. I remembered the familiar red screwdriver I found back in the conference room, so while avoiding that stupid tiger, I made my way downstairs. Much to my surprise, the smoke grenade was still releasing its harmless toxins.
"How long does this thing go off for?" I questioned in my head as I lifted my scarf to my nose and made my way through the room once more. As expected, the screwdriver was sitting on the shelf. Earlier, I had seen a door with a screw next to it in the cafeteria. However, there were two problems in between me and said door; The tiger who couldn't speak a word, and an orange fox with theatre arts running in his blood. For a moment, I thought that the latter was mentally unstable or something.
I slid through the vent and noticed the tiger from the corner of my eye. I held back a gasp as I ran into the cafeteria and jumped onto the closest table, shocking the fox. When Tigry came running in, I did a corkscrew flip onto another table closer to the door I was trying to get to. It took me a good portion of my life to get that flip right. I did another flip onto the floor and made a beeline for the door. I managed to unlock the door with the screwdriver as fast as I could.
I had unlocked what seemed to be a kitchen. The room I was just in was a cafeteria, so it made sense. On a shelf infront of the door sat a yellow key. Picturing the vault upstairs in my head, I grabbed the yellow key and ran past Tigry out of the cafeteria. I needed to get upstairs as soon as possible. I ran up the stairs and didn't stop until I found myself back in the room with that good for nothing radio. I went behind the table and unlocked the vault sitting on a bench. Luckily, there was a carrot sitting inside.
Why am I always finding carrots in vaults?
I shrugged before taking the carrot out of the vault and running out of the room. Eventually, I reached Pony and practically tossed him the carrot from a few feet away. "Here's your carrot. Do your thing and make it quick," I stated firmly. Pony nodded with a serious and determined expression, and after finishing the carrot, he turned around and jumped into the vent. The sound he made caught the attention of a black and white cat. The moment she turned her head, I ducked into the vent that led into a bedroom with a ton of bunk beds.
Based on what I had seen, there were only about six members of The Silver Paw. Why were there so many beds? I brushed those thoughts aside when I noticed an orange key sitting on a shelf inside of the room. I picked up the key before sneaking out of the door. The cat was now looking into the vent Pony was just in, trying to figure out what was happening. "Is she dumb?" I asked mentally, giving her a weird look. The large metal door she was standing infront of opened, so I snuck past her and made my way down the stairs that followed.
When I reached the lower level, I noticed Pony standing infront of another vent hole, holding a blue toy car in his hand. Looking further down the hall, I noticed a brown coyote standing infront of what seemed to be a cell. Zizzy must be in there. Pony put a hand on my shoulder, snapping me back to reality. "Hey, Cindy. If you can find a battery and open the door ahead," he whispered as he pointed to a door directly across from us. "I can lead this guy away with this car I found in the vent!"
