The closer and closer we got to the base, the harder and harder the snow fell.

It almost felt as though someone was trying to stop us, and it didn't take me long to realize who it could be. The man earlier had grabbed my chin and threatened me to not continue doing what I was doing, which gave me all the reason to do the exact opposite. Kona had contacted Mimi through the radio a few minutes ago, but nothing came out of him, which concerned the mole deeply. Shortly after, we had reached what looked to be a military camp.

"Well, here it is..."

I turned to look at Pony, who was muttering to himself from a few feet away. "...just what we've been looking for," he finished. I understood his shock since I was also feeling it."The outpost ahead... it's been quiet for quite a while. I'd be real careful," Kona informed us through the radio he had given to Mimi. My gaze went from the mole to the large stone wall a few yards away. Talk about security. Kona's warning didn't make things better either. The fact that this outpost suddenly went quiet was enough to raise multiple red flags in one go.

There were probably infected soldiers here.

I let out a shaky sigh before pulling my brown scarf over my nose. It didn't take a genius to read the atmosphere. Everyone around me was nervous, whether they were visibly showing it or not. I was nervous myself. This was a military camp. That meant soldiers and high-tech weapons, and that meant I would have to risk dying once again. My injuries weren't fully healed either, but I was on the stronger side of our little group. Back then, I was the daughter and sister of police officers. Now, I had to grow up and act like one.

"Alright, here's what's going to happen," I found myself saying as all eyes turned to me. Taking that as my cue, I stepped forward towards the tall wall before turning to face the others. "I'm going in there. There's most likely infected soldiers, locks that need unlocking and puzzles that need solving," I stated firmly. It was silent for a few seconds, but said seconds felt like years, decades, even. I was about to turn around to head into the camp, when a certain someone's words filled my head.

"Try not to push yourself too hard, okay?"

My hand went up to the zebra's hat, which still sat ontop of my head thanks to the hat pins I stuck into it. With that, I sighed and turned my gaze to the snow covering my feet. "Willow, Pony, you two are coming in with me. Try not to tear each other's throats out, okay?" I asked. "The rest of you stay out here. It's better to remain undetected by the infected than have a bounty over your head." Not wanting to hear any questions from the others, I turned around and began to trek through the snow towards the camp's gates. The sooner we got this over with, the closer we'd be to the cure.

I reached the large metal gates before the other two, so I used all the strength I had in my arms to push it open just wide enough for the three of us to go inside. I nearly fell into the snow, though. Once we were inside, I closed the gate to prevent whatever was in here besides us from coming out. From my left, I could see Pony smile from what looked to be relief and slight excitement. "I've got a good feeling the cure may be around here somewhere," he unintentionally explained before walking off.

I was going to go see what he was up to, but the wolf stopped me. "So, kiddo, any ideas on what went down here?" She asked. There were a ton of metal containers similar to the ones back on Budgey's ship, so I went up to the closest one and allowed for my fingers to graze against the material, flinching at the slight connection thanks to the cold. When I touched the metal, I felt... nothing. Nothing about any of this was off in any way. It was as though the place suddenly went silent before anyone could comprehend it.
