Me and reki sat in my room and I looked at my phone from my bed. "Are these pictures of you in Canada?" He said and I looked down to see him holding an old photo book. I nodded and he got onto my bed, opening it. He smiled the whole time, flipping through the pages.
He stopped and moved beside me. "Is that your dad?" He asked and I nodded. "Yeah, we went skiing that day." Reki went back to looking through pictures and gasped softly to himself. "Oh my god, who is that guy? Are you related to him?" I glanced over and saw a familiar face. "No, why?" I chuckled at his reaction and rubbed the back of my neck. "He's so hot." Reki was practically drooling over the picture and I laughed softly.
"He was my boyfriend." There, I dropped the bomb. Reki stared at me with my my wide open. "Youre gay?" He exclaimed and I nodded. "Did I not tell you?" He shook his head slowly and I smiled shyly. "Sorry?" He brushed it off and went back to the picture. "What's his name?" I smiled to myself and set my phone down. "Jackson." I said and he shut the book.
"Did you guys go to the same school?" I nodded and reki was racking his mind for more questions. "How long did you two date?" I paused, thinking about it and not at the inside of my mouth. "We'll we met in seventh grade which is around 12 years old, and we were really good friends til ninth grade which is around 14 or 15 years old." Reki nodded and I chuckled at him. "Then about halfway through the ninth grade year he asked me out and we started dating and we dated until I moved here. That's why we broke up." Reki stared at me.
"Did you guys ever kiss?" I laughed and looked at him. "Yes, we dated for almost three years, of course we kissed." Reki smiled softly and looked to the side. "Was it weird?" He said softly and I looked over. "What?" Reki scratched the back of his head and shrugged. "I don't know, dating a guy." He said in a whisper and I took the photo book off his lap.
"Um no- it felt really natural for me, but maybe it's because I never wanted to date girls, they never interested me. Even growing up all my crushes were boys." Reki was quiet and played with his thumbs. "Does your mom know?" I nodded and he looked away from me. "How's she react?" He whispered and I tried to remember it. "Oh I don't...actually I think she just found out me and Jackson were dating. She didn't make that big of a deal about it. I think she was just shocked." Reki finally looked over at me and I took his headband off, his hair falling in his eyes.
He smiled softly and I ruffled his hair up. "Why are you asking so many questions, huh?" He stared at me and I rested my arm behind his back. "Um- i don't know, I was just curious. You never tell about stuff in Canada." I glanced down and smiled back. "Do you still love him?" Reki asked and I shook my head. "I don't think if I had the choice I'd go back to him. I enjoyed my time with him, but it not like I was ever going to get married to him or something." Reki smiled again and I pushed the hair out of his eyes.
"Have you ever had a boyfriend?" I teased him and poked his chest a little. He blushed like crazy and he shook his head. "No- no I Um-" I laughed and he stopped sputtering. "I'm just messing with you Reki." I said and he stared at me. "Oh- oh yeah I knew that." I eyed Reki and put my arm around him. "Youre so weird sometimes." He tensed up under my arm and I watched him. Huh.
A few weeks later
I sat in rekis room with him and helped him paint his nails. He stared at them and had sparkles in his eyes. He was completely speechless and I smiled at him. He looked at me and blushed very softly. "Thank you." He smiled and I nodded, waving hand hand to help dry his nails faster. He kept lifting his hand up and I grabbed it. "Just stay still for a moment, you're going to ruin them." Reki got quiet and I blew on his nails every few seconds.
I finally put his hand down and I sat up, grabbing my phone. I looked through it and I bit my nails subconsciously. "Langa, can I ask you something?" Reki said and I nodded. "What did you like about Jackson?" He spoke softly and I smiled. "You're still thinking about him?" Reki nodded slowly. "We'll you had to like something about him to date him for two years." I thought about it and I smiled at him.
"Um probably his smile, he was always always smiling. And his uh-" I blushed and laughed to myself. "Nevermind." I said and reki stared at me. "So all I have to do is smile and you'll date me too?" I looked in his eyes, confused and shook my head. I laughed shortly "no, Reki. That's what I liked about him. You should- yeah you just stay the same. There's things I like about you that I don't like in anyone else." He stared at me and I smiled shyly. "Why are you trying so hard? You don't have to make me want to date you." He blushed and moved closer to me.
"Sorry." He mumbled and I brought my legs up to my chest. It got quiet again and reki pulled out his phone watching something. I looked over at him and put my head on his shoulder. He tensed up and I smiled softly, watching his video. I played with my hands and slowly lifted my head up. "Reki." I whispered and he turned to me. "Yeah?" He said shakily and I moved my hand to the side of his face. His eyes widened and I looked down. I brought his face to mine and he closed his eyes.
I pecked his lips and he turned almost as red as his hair. "What was that?" He whispered and I laughed softly. "You like me, don't you?" He nodded quickly and I smiled. I leaned forward and kissed him again, a little longer this time. He pulled away and covered his face. He peeked at me through his fingers and I bit back a smile. I leaned towards him and reached out to move his hands away.
His door opened and he dropped his hands. I glanced back and saw him mom. I put my hands down and she smiled at us. "Langa your moms here to pick you up." I nodded and started grabbing my stuff. "Bye reki." I smiled and waved softly. He waved shortly and set his head on his knees.
