Nightmares

I woke up to Langa screaming and quickly grabbed his hand. He cried hysterically and clawed into my back. "He's gone. He's gone." He muttered over and over and I held him in my arms. I kept my eyes closed and rubbed his back. "It's okay." I whispered and he struggled to catch his breath. I sat up and brought with me, swaying slightly. "Breathe. You're okay." I whispered a few times and he took a shaky breath.

His tears stained my shirt and I opened my eyes for the first time. I blinked sleepily and his breathing grew steady. I grabbed his face and looked in his eyes. He struggled to stop himself from crying. "Youre okay." I smiled softly and he nodded, biting his lip to stop himself from crying. I let go of him and he slowly laid down. I covered him with a blanket and sat beside him in bed, watching him closely. He still had tears running down his face and I gently wiped them off.

His breathing slowed and he fell asleep. I sat against the wall and must've watched him for hours. The sun started to peek through the window and I was practically falling asleep. Langa stirred and looked at me with tired eyes. I slumped over and sighed. He got up and changed quickly. I smiled to myself and fell asleep knowing he was alright.
