(This is set in the future, or like five maybe six years later)

I got home from work and reki looked at me from the kitchen. "Langa!!" He ran over to me and hugged me tightly, showering me with kisses. "God, I missed you so much today, it felt like you were gone for hours." He smiled and kissed me again. "I was just about to start dinner." He said and I glanced in the kitchen. "Dont, I want to take you out tonight."

He blushed and fixed my hair behind my ears. "So romantic, go take a shower and I'll clean this up." He hurried into the kitchen, quickly putting away. I walked into the bathroom, leaving the door cracked. I turned the shower on and searched my jacket pocket, pulling out the simple gold band. I smiled at it and put it back in my jacket.

I got out of the shower and reki walked in, brushing through his hair. I looked at him and smiled, "Your hair looks nice today." He looked at me. "God you're acting like when we first got together, what is up with you today?" I walked past him to go get dressed and he followed me. "Seriously Langa, what do you have planned?" I looked up from the rack of clothes. "Just dinner, maybe treating you to a surprise, do you want to do something else?" He shook his head and I smiled at him.

"Go get ready, I'm not waiting for you." I pulled my shoe on and hurried into the bathroom while he was busy, moving the ring to my pants pocket. I fixed my hair up and took a slow breath before walking into the living room. "Reki! I'm leaving!" He hurried out of the bathroom, hopping trying to put his shoe on. "Agh" he tripped and laughed softly. "I'm coming!" He caught up to me and I grabbed the keys, walking out of our apartment.

We walked down a few blocks and I grabbed his hand. He smiled at me and the shop lights glimmered in his eyes. "Oh my good, you're so cute." I put my hands on the sides of my face and he scrunched his face up. "Dude Youre so cheesy, what? Are we still in highschool or something?" He laughed and I kissed his forehead.

We walked into a restaurant and put our orders in. "Why'd you ask me on a date so suddenly? We haven't gone out like this in months." I shrugged and watched him with a permeating slight smile on my face. "I just felt like we needed to have some time together, I've been working so much lately and I feel bad." He rolled his eyes. "You do work too much, we're not short on money, why don't you take some time off?"

I glanced to the side and felt the imprint of the ring pressing into my skin. "I'll think about it." I said and he reached across the table, holding my hand. We finally got our food and afterwards we walked down the street. I squeezed his hand and looked out at the water. "It's getting cold out lately, it's almost time to go back to Canada." He elbowed my side and I nodded softly. "I love going to see your mom, she's so nice to me." He said and I looked over at him. "Do you miss seeing her?" He said quietly and I shrugged. "Sometimes, but we talk all the time."

We walked over to the railing and reki leaned over, looking into the water. He smiled and I put my hand onto of his on the railing. "Reki?" I asked and he looked over. I put a shaky hand on the lip of my pocket and he smiled softly. "Hm?" I reached for the ring and grabbed it. "I love you." His smile widened and he wrapped his arms around my neck, kissing my cheek. "So I want to ask you something, and it's totally fine if you're not ready." He pulled back and looked at me.

"Langa, I already told you werent not getting a cat, I absolutely despise them." I laughed softly and shook my head. "That's not it." I grabbed his hand and rubbed the top with my thumb. "God, I forgot the word." I mumbled and he laughed. "You've lived here for almost a whole decade and you still can't remember words, Jesus that's why I love you Langa." I got embarrassed and racked my brain. "Oh I got it." I pulled the ring out from behind my back and rekis smile faded away. He looked in my hand for awhile and I had a nervous smile. He looked up and then back down. "Langa?" He questioned and I squeezed his hand.

"Will you marry me, reki?"

Reki was dead silent, probably the quietest I've heard him the whole time we've been together. He laughed softly and then reached into his pocket. "Langa, dude, that's so funny." He pulled out a silver ring and sniffled. I looked up and just now noticed the tears running down his face. "I thought you were acting weird today, so I brought it just in case. Ya'know, I've been trying to ask you for months." I stifled a short laugh and he looked up. "Can I still ask?"

I nodded and he smiled. "Langa, Will you marry me?" I nodded quickly and we exchanged rings. I quickly hugged him. I squeezed him tight and breathed in that sweet peppermint smell that he's somehow held onto all these years. I picked my left hand up and the light hit the ring. I smiled and reki cried into my shoulder.

We watched the waves of the ocean until we got too cold and walked home. I shut the door behind us and reki started to walk away. "Hey, do you really think that's the end of the date?"

He looked over his shoulder and slid his jacket off. "Oh god, Langa it's been so long, I'm going to tear you up tonight." He practically dragged me to the bedroom and slammed the door behind us.
