Reverse

I sat on the couch with Reki, watching a movie. We kept our distance and I glanced over at him. He smiled softly but there was a pained look in his eyes. Me and reki broke up a few weeks ago because being more than friends felt weird..I guess. I think Reki felt that way but I didn't. It doesn't matter because I just want him to be happy.

The movie got to the end and I was a little teary eyed. I leaned against the back of the couch and reki looked over at me. "You alright?" He said under his breath and I nodded slowly, glancing down at his lips. I looked back up at his eyes quickly and he bit his nails. "I love you." I whispered and he searched my face.

The room was quiet besides our soft breathing and the low credits music on the tv. "I love you." He breathed out, just to where I could barely hear it and smiled it myself. "Really?" He took a second and nodded very lightly. I softened my smile and watched him carefully. "Damn, all this over Mulan." He sat up and rubbed his face.

"Can we get back together?" I asked and he stayed quiet, almost acting as if I didn't ask. I curled my legs up onto the couch and breathed in to clear my stuffy nose. "Uh, give me- just...yeah- give me some time. Please?" I nodded and rubbed his back, resting my head on his shoulder. "Youre a great friend." I said and he looked over at me, smiling softly. I buried my face in his shoulder to stop myself from kissing him and he set a gentle hand on my back.

The next thing I knew it was morning and I woke up in rekis arms. I yawned and clung onto him a bit longer before he woke up. He pulled away from me and I sat up, rubbing my eyes. "Sorry, for falling asleep." I said and grabbed my things.

Reki watched me quietly and followed me to the front door. "I uh- if you make up your mind just text me or...maybe call. We could go out to dinner sometime if you'd want it to be more special, I know this place-" Reki put his hand up and smiled softly. "Langa, it's fine, I'll tell you when I'm ready." He watched me and stuttered for a second before hugging me, our cheeks pressing together.

"Thank you, for being patient with me. I know I'm a pain in the ass sometimes." I laughed softly and he pecked my cheek. My face flushed and I loosened my hold on him. "No, not yet, that's just something to keep you from getting bored of me." He stepped back and I smiled uncontrollably.

"I'll call you, about dinner, right? I'll take you out on a nice date, and we can watch a movie at my house next time." He nodded and leaned against the doorway. "Langa, go, before your mom gets home from work." I nodded and glanced back a final time. "Do you like Mexican food?" He stared at me and waved me off. "Go!" He ushered and I nodded before hurrying home.
