Fear struck you praralized.

Run! Your brain screamed at you, but you couldn't move. It was all too much. You were in too much shock, but it was all too much. You were stunned into silence. You were too scared to even scream. You were barely processing what you had seen. Or more so witnessed.

Did he just kill him? Why was he looking at me with.. hunger? Am I next? No, I have to run. But it was like he had you under some twisted spell because he had you right in place.

"Where are you going? The party just started.. I can't have the prey leave so soon." Jace stared at you with mock sympathy.

He knew you were too scared to run, but he also knew you wanted to. He started nearing towards you, while using his tongue to clean the blood from his now extremely sharp teeth. It was still hard for you to process that he had just killed that person. An innocent person, who's only mistake was crossing through the Sparian woods at the wrong time.

Apparently it was yours too. But it wasn't your fault that this was the only route home. Maybe if you had let Keyon take you out for ice cream today this could've been avoided. No, no time to think about what I could've done differently. You thought to yourself.

"Aww, look at you.. so helpless," He drew his claws out. "so.. powerless," he held one claw up to your neck."So vulnerable. Oh~ come on little one.. I know you want to scream. Go on. Not like anyones gonna hear you out here."

I don't want to die.

You could feel his claws get closer to your neck.

No, I want to live.

And then he fell to the ground with a simple,

Thump.

You woke you with a scream. The same nightmare. No, it was okay.. Everything was safe. You looked around the safe walls of the sanctuary. You jolted when you felt someone jump up beside you.

"Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to. I'm sorry Duke." You kept apologizing to your half- bull lover. Nightmares were one of the first things that y'all bonded over having. Didn't make them any easier to have.

Especially when they were about real events. No. It's better to forget. But forgetting was hard to do when it was all still fresh in your memory. All so.. memorable. The truth of it was, Jace Belladonna had tried to murder you. That wasn't the worst part. He looked like an animal, no a monster.

"Darlin'? Hey are you okay?" Duke held you, even as he asked the question. He knew it was a pointless question, judging by the look of your pale face.

"I'm sorry for waking you. I'm just.. scared." As soon as the words left your mouth, Duke shot a puzzled and confused look at you.

"No, no, nothing to worry about. Well, well it is, but no, it's nothing that you did." He let out a sigh of relief.

"Alright then Darlin' then what's bothering your sleep? I- uh that is if you don't mind me askin'?" Duke was quick to add that last bit.

"I- um.. Well, about three months ago.. I-I." you took a deep breath. "I was almost murdered." You were choking back tears remembering the event.

You could see Duke's eyes grow in concern and surprise, you weren't sure which emotion was more dominant. It was all too much to bear. You broke down. You were a sobbing mess. You could feel Duke's hands rub over your shaking body.

"Duke.. Can I.. Can I tell you something?" You could feel your body shaking, but you needed to get something off of your chest if you wanted to sleep easy that night.
