You played with the spoon in your coffee mug. You were bored out of your mind. The most painful part about being a member of the circle had to be the stupid meetings in the mornings. You hated staying in one place more than once, and you were practically bouncing out of your seat, just waiting for the meeting to end.
However, there was still 20 minutes left before the end of the meeting. Today was extended as not only was there a “special announcement”, but it was also the eve before the War Games.. In which all eyes would be on the students chosen. “Chosen” In reality they were cherry picked. The circle picked the students who raised the most questions, hoping that putting them all together would result with a discovery. Obviously putting all the abnormals together would raise questions, so they added a couple normies as well.
Nevertheless, this was the part you dread most about your job. Actually being a member of the circle. You joined this job for one reason; Peirce’s safety, and your own. But now, that came with a price. Having to study students, and practically breach their privacy.
“Now, just before we leave, I would like to introduce the newest member of the Circle, Dr. Jade.”
Wait.. Did he just say.. New member? You were caught off guard. A man with black hair, and brown eyes walked in.
He introduced himself, just like every other member had. But there was something different about him. Something that intrigued you. He was different from the other members.. He was charming. He knew just what to say in order to intruige you at the very least. This was not the type of person you would expect to join the circle. Most of the people here were either assholes or poor unfortunate souls who were forced to pay off some debt to the organization.
Though he didn't look like he was forced to join, but he also didn't look like he was there off his own accord... So why was he here? Nevertheless thoes were the exact people you had to look out for.
"Great, Dr. Jade, take a seat along the outer circle. Anywhere works." The way the conference room for the circle was set up was meant to symbolize the eye of the circle. So there were two oval shaped tables, one bigger than the other. In the inner circle sat the seven members that knew the true purpose of the circle. In the outer circle sat the rest of the members. If he Dr. Jade was sitting in the outer circle then this meant that Dr. Jade didn’t know much about the reason the circle had for being,
Then again neither did you.
Half of you wanted him to sit next to you, you wanted to meet the newly found stranger. After all, that’s how you and Greg came to be in the first place. Maybe this could be a new friend. The other half didn’t really care.
“Hey. May I sit here?” He asked.
“Oh, yeah, if you want.”
“Thanks. Lee Jade, nice to meet you.” He put out his hand for you to shake.
“(Name).. Nice to meet you too!” You gave a quick introduction before paying attention to whatever the hell Dr. Glass was rambling about.
Or so you appeared. In reality you were paying attention to Dr.Jade in your proveseral vision. There is a lot that body language can say about a person, and what you were getting from Dr.Jade was that he was a confident, but sweet man. His charm was a little unsettling. You couldn’t tell if it was unnatural or too natural.
Once the meeting had ended Dr. Glass came up to you, with clear intention to have a word with you.
“Dr. (Last Name), a word?” He gestured outside in the hallway.
“Yes, of course.” You were a little nervous, as there were a million things he could want to set straight with you.
“I have two things to set with you. For one, as you know Dr. Jade is new in this school. He teaches biology, meaning that his room will be close to yours. I expect you to be a guide of sorts.”
