Crowds and popular people were never your scene. You hated them because they would always find something to make fun of you for. Most of the time you knew better than to genuinely care about what they said.
But now? Now you were on a mission to call out Jaces bluff. But was it really a bluff? There was more danger here than what was led on at first. Jace was capable of doing so much harm, and if anyone knew that, it was certainly you.
That was the very reason you were sitting there at a table surrounded by countless students dancing about. Prom was never your thing, which is why you didnt go to it. But prom wasnt the only big dance that this stupid prestigious academy hosted. It was the dance right before the War Games. Just to.. Spice up the competition that would be had the next day.
How do you get a bunch of students to go neck to neck in a competition thats sole purpose is to have a bunch of monsters reveal their true potential? Easy, you have a dance the night before to start some drama.
As if by law, all the captains of the teams were there; Jace, Judah, Korvin, and Keyon. The rest of the team usually showed up. Without fail Connie was right at Korvins side, Onyx and Corey were dancing, Zeke was off with his little partner, and most of the other members of all the teams were off doing their own little thing. Even Pierce Quindale was there. This had been roughly the second time that Peirce had been chosen for a team and this was also the first time you had seen him in a social gathering. Granted he was surrounded by social, but not really engaged in it.
On the other hand, the captains couldn't be more oblivious as they made complete dumbasses of themselves. For starters, having Korvin and Jace as team captains was definitely going to start some drama as everyone knew that they were not the bestest of friends. Even though most times Keyon was looking for a story to milk, when it came to these two, Key would always take Korvin's side. And Judah was more of the peacemaker of all four. Didn't work out most of the time, but if it really got to it, he knew he could beat all of them in anything to shut them up. Judah DeVoe truly was the superior of all the four captains.
Any other day this would've been amusing, but today it was now more aggravating. Especially because you knew you were in charge of keeping an eye on anything that may slip Jaces stupid mouth. He was up to something and that was the entire reason you were even here.
"Speak of the devil." You muttered, rolling your eyes as Jace spotted you and came towards you.
Before this would have been a problem as you wanted nothing to do with him and the drama that came with being around him. For starters his girlfriend, Kathryn Bowe had a real stick up her ass because mommy is the mayor, and her brother is a cop. Oops.. girlfriend? Sorry, ex-girlfriend now. At this point the whole school knew about the break up. It was the latest news, and suddenly, now everyone knew your name. Including her. She knew who you were, and that you were the end of her relationship, and that was enough for her to despise you. Too bad you didn"t give a fuck.
"You-You look stunning." He said, trying his best to seem as if he wasn't enamored with you, but everyone knew he totally was.
You simply nodded, and muttered a thanks. You could feel a smirk creeping onto your lips, as the eyes of Kathryn Bowe were not silent, but loud and filled with poison.
"Anyways May I have this dance?" He held his hand out, patiently waiting for your answer.
You glared at his hand, "...No." You turned away from him, "What about Kathryn? I'm sure shes been dying to get a piece of you all night." You gestured towards her.
Sure enough, for the first time that you were petty enough to look, the blonde had a venomous look spread all over her. If looks could kill, then boy would you be a goner
