You raised your head up towards the sky, ecstatically as you felt a raindrop fall on your head. You could feel the rain get heavier as you walked home, until eventually your hair was damp with rain water. You couldn’t take it anymore, as you spread out your blue wings, ready to fly into the storm.
It was impressive how being high up in the sky changed the way everything was perceived. Everything was so small, and it was only then that you realized nothing really mattered when the most breathtaking view was in front of your very eyes. The sight, sound, and electrifying feeling of flying amongst the thunder, the Sky Palace even so high up, still below you.
It was easy to forget the issues awaiting you home. The mental distress waiting to catch your thoughts by surprise, before flooding your head with the sickest of thoughts. And the miserable reality that there was truly nothing you could do, because no one believed you. No one cared enough to see anything, except for what they wanted to see. However, the you they saw, was never the true you.
Here up with the clouds, and the other blue dragons, you were allowed to feel free. Liberated from all the chains that kept you unhappy. You truly had no idea what you would’ve done if you were not born a blue dragon.
“Did you hear about.. the prince?” The other blue dragons would gossip.
“I hear that he had a divine invocation placed on him.”
“I heard that he’s the offspring of a lowly siren with an ego, who managed to seduce our late King William.” Their venomous whispers filled your ears.
“I heard that he’s a faker, and he’s actually Lucious' biological child.” The sickening words plagued your silence.
Annoyed at the sound of people always having something to say, you decided to go somewhere else. Somewhere just as beautiful, as well as somewhere you would be left alone to your thoughts.
“There goes the quiet bitch.” You heard the others giggle. You simply rolled your eyes.
Upon arrival at the beach you felt a little twinge of relief. You listened to the sound of the raindrops gently hitting the water. Finally you were left alone to admire the beauty of a thunderstorm, not having a single care in the world.
Until the sound of a splash got your attention.
You approached a rock that was over the area where you heard the splash. Not wanting to give yourself out to whatever it was that was behind the rock. Then, singing. Angelic singing, that would bring any being, human or otherwise to their knees. Curiosity sinking into every fiber of your being, you peaked over the rock to take a look at the owner of such a beautiful voice.
The sight of a siren so close to dragon territory shocked you half to death. Apparently your shock was vocal as well, as she turned her head towards the rock.
“The gig is up. Show yourself. And I warn you if you try to murder me like the viscous beast you probably are, I will end you before you get the chance to lay your claws on me.” The formally angelic voice, now turned sour, surprised you.
However what enchanted you more than anything was how beautiful this siren was-
No, it was a trick, the singing, her beauty, it was all an attempt to seduce whoever was around. But then again, how bad could she really be? What if dragons were all wrong about the merfolk, after all the new prince was a merfolk.
“A.. Merfolk?” You gawked at the scales that graced her face.
She had long black hair, purple eyes, a devilishly sweet smile and purple scales decorating her face and arms. She was dressed rather nicely in a purple outfit that complimented her hair and eyes. Regardless of her enchanting beauty, there was a very sinister aura surrounding her, as if she could snap and do something horrible at any given moment.
