My Old Life

Your life was about perfect. Nobody was telling you what to do, you weren’t being involved in the deals of anybody, and most importantly you were happy. Happy with your husband. You had the life you thought you could only dream of. But no.. it was yours.

There was however, one thing stopping you from completely letting loose. It was that your siblings were probably still living in hell. You wanted your siblings to take control of their lives too. You were tired of feeling guilty. You wanted your siblings.. and your mother.

In a time of terror for all of you, your father was the sorce of it all. Everything was shit because of him. First he would treat you all like chess pieces. You were all something to deal out, something that could be used to his benefit.

After all that’s the entire reason you were about to marry Tylock. Thank the divines that Thresh was smart enough to figure out where you were before the wedding. By now Tylock was surely the laughing stock of the town.

With that said, chances are your father would track you down to pay for the embarrassment you made him go through. It was just a matter of time. After all, Gavin was able to find you easily enough. What was stopping your father’s spy from finding you?

You hadn’t said anything to Thresh in fear that he wouldn’t let you do anything, in fear that someone would get their hands on you. You couldn’t blame him, it was a mutual fear. After you two came back home, you could already feel the hidden protectiveness shining through.

Yet your guilt was eating you alive. You couldn’t anymore. You turned to your side to stare at the man sleeping beside you. It would be only a matter of minutes before he would have to go to his work.

You were happy that he got a job doing something he likes, but you hated how much time it took away from you two being together. You missed the days where you would lay your head on his lap and watch the sunrise. You missed the days when you had him to yourself, all day.

But that was a selfish desire, and you knew that. In the meantime when he was out, you’d found out plenty about yourself. You’d discovered new hobbies, made new friends, and even picked up on new talents.

You enjoyed yourself doing these things, but soon that small bit of happiness was replaced with guilt, and sadness. It was often when you were alone that you felt worse. No one there to keep you company, not Thresh, not your siblings. Just you.

You knew this was your subconsciousness punishing you for what you had done- or rather hadn’t done. You made one mistake. Not taking them with you. It was one you still beat yourself up for.

You could feel one tear roll down your cheek.

You got up and looked out the window that looked out of your shared bedroom. It was such a sight. It was so beautiful. You just- you wished they could see it. Oh how little Lucy would be so happy to see the sunrise. How Kai and Thresh would get along just fine. How Dominic and Daisy  would read under the candle light. It wasn’t there yet you could see it all as if it was playing out right before your eyes.

“Tiny?” You jumped in surprise, but you didn’t turn to face him. Not before wiping your tears at least.

“I- uh, yes?” Although you were holding in a sob, you wouldn’t let it win.

"Are you okay?” Darn it. That question. The one that you should never ask someone who is certainly not okay. “Here come back to bed.” He held his arms towards you.

When you turned back to look at him, you saw all the love in the world. All the love anyone could ever possibly need. All the love they certainly didn’t have. You couldn’t, not anymore. You broke down.
