The gentle song of the birds in the trees was a comforting sound for you. It was a wonderful sound to wake up to before your royal duties, but what was even more wonderful was the sight of Cal sleeping peacefully right next to you.
Finally all of your suffering has come to your peace. Everything in the world couldn’t be more perfect at that moment in time. Everything in the world was finally correct. And nobody could do anything about it. Not even your father.
But you’d rather not think of him right now. It was time your happiness was fulfilled. And that started with a kiss from your kight, no your prince.
You started by nuzzling into his chest. In a way you wanted to wake him up but he also deserved all the rest he needed. After all, if there was one thing you knew from being a noble it was that being royalty was a pretty stressful job. However you wanted to spend every waking moment with him, loving him to make up for all of the time you two had to pretend to simply be friends. Or to make up for all the time that Cal had to stand off to the side and watch you try to get on with a suitor. Or when your father got him locked in the dungeon.
Whatever the reason was, you had to admit that part of it was because you wanted to hear those pretty words come from his mouth. To hear him call you perfect. Part of you craved to hear his heartbeat, while you laid on his chest. You carved to look into his eyes and know he was yours and not someone else's because he had chosen you. Because fate had chosen the both of you to cross paths, destiny, the creator, the gods or whatever had chosen for the both of you to cross paths and be made for eachother.
Your hand slowly made its way to his face. It landed on his cheek, and then their next destination was his lips. Your fingers slowly traced his lips, but all of a sudden his hand grabbed yours. You smiled slyly before planting your lips onto his, starting the day with a passionate kiss.
“And that is how I’d like my morning to go everyday from now until the rest of forever.” You shared a heartfelt laugh with Cal.
“So, how’s my loyal knight getting used to noble life?” You asked.
“Oh, trust me, with the simple fact that I get to kiss you without repercussions wherever I want, whenever I want, that’s enough to make me adjust just fine.” He grinned mischievously, thinking about all the kisses he has stolen from you in front of your father, just to piss him off, while your cheeks flushed a bright pink.
“Well, any plans for today, your highness?” Cal asked, in an attempt to change the subject.
“Hm? No, I don't think so. Why?” You nuzzled up to his chest.
He chuckled.
“My mother asked me to take you over to the house to eat breakfast. She has been dying to see you, but she's so disappointed that you haven’t had time to see her.”
“Aw~ if that was the case, I would’ve made time for her sooner. Cal I love your mom, I would do anything just to simply see her. I love her as if she were my own mother.” you hugged into Cal closer than before, which you wouldn’t have known was possible.
In that moment while being so close to him, while snuggling into his strong arms that you knew were only there for you. Those arms that were that strong because of training for your protection. Every single sacrifice he had ever made was for your safety and that was one thing you loved so dearly about him. Just then, everything was finally, finally, perfect.
But being with Cal surprisingly had its downfall too. Since Cal became a noble, your father had his ways of avoiding you, when Cal was around at least. He wasn’t as nice to you as he used to be, but he also wasn’t as outraged as he was with you or Cal when he found out about your relationship. You didn’t care much because you loved Cal, but part of you wanted to have the same loving relationship you had with your father before.
