You ran as fast as you could, adrenaline pumping strongly through your veins. Erik had been generous enough to give you a five second head start, though it was really him who could use the five second head start in all honesty.

Looking at the surrounding of the forest, you chose to hide behind a tree. This, to your disadvantage, would be what caused your demise.

You yelped as you felt a pair of arms grab you from behind. He sneaked up behind me… How? I could've sworn I would've heard that!

"Aww, look. Someone's finally lost. Ready to give up captain?" Erik grinned smugly. You grunted against his grip on your injured arm. Your arm was still injured from the prince's attack on your camp, but that didn't stop you from training.

"I may be many things, but I am not a loser!" You roared, as you tried to find a way to get away from him.

It takes a lot for you to admit defeat. You couldn’t remember a time that you were defeated. Well except for master, but then again he was your teacher. So it comes as a surprise to no one that you refused to accept Erik's victory as he pinned you against a tree.

You muffled a grunt as he smirked in victory. You could hear your master's voice in your head, "I don't remember teaching a loser. Get up. You will not lose."

Your thoughts were interrupted only by Erik’s voice. "At last. Victory is finally mine." Erik was certainly going to milk this moment if you didn't shut him up now.

You quickly found a way to kick his legs away from you. However, you did this with a little more force than what you intended because he let out a yelp.

Your first instinct was to cringe, to go over and ask him if he was alright, but part of you also wanted to brag.

"Oh not so cocky now, are you?" You smirked, as you gave out your hand.

He grabbed it with a look of defeat spread on his face.

"Ouch… Being the captain's training companion is tough." Your second in command winces upon seeing Erik’s injuries. "They haven't been defeated for years! Well except for.."You send a death glare her way, not wanting to hear about your master. She took the hint.

"Painful indeed. I still have a scar from the last time I was the training target." Nolan cringes at the thought.

"What's going to be more painful is the beating I'm about to give Erik for not letting Captain high-and- mighty here rest before reopening one of their wounds." Risa said, busting into the room.

Erik laughed and kicked up his legs. "Risa, take a look at my leg. If anyone here has a higher chance of reopening any wounds, it's me."

"Blah blah blah, I'm Erik and I think I'm so badass because I'm the chief, but in reality a mercenary captain is way better than me." Risa mocked.

"Hey! I am better-"

"Not." You looked away innocently from Erik's burning glare, but you suddenly chiming in, brought Risa's attention back to you.

You met her gaze, one that was filled with concern. "Risa, I'm fine, really."

"Oh yeah, tell that to your father." She mumbled under her breath.

"What?!" You snapped your head towards her, horror filling your thoughts.

"Your father is at the gates of camp." She clarified.

"Not possible. How could he have found me? Why would he even care about where I'm at?" You rushed out, with Erik following close behind you.

You raced through the camp, having to give multiple apologies as you almost tripped a couple people.
