“Darlin’.. Stay back.” Due put his arm up in order to stop you from doing something rash.

“Duke.” You glared at D'Andrea, ready to claw his eyes out of his skull as soon as he let his guard down. “Let me at him.”

“Absolutely not. He's dangerous. And waiting for me to put my guard down to attack.”

“Actually,” Remus swung his sword, “I don’t have to!” His sword landed in Duke’s abdomen.

Duke winced in pain, letting out a sharp breath. He was trying not to panic. You on the other hand were already plotting all the ways in which you could kill him, and which ones would be the most painful, and slow. You didn’t care what Duke had to say, he was injured, and there was danger. You definitely weren’t going down without a fight.

Never letting go of his shoulder you grabbed the dagger Duke had given you on the full moon festival. “There are dangerous people out there, especially on this day” He had said when he gave it to you.

Well, he was right, there were bad people in the world, and Remus was one of them. Just like Fray, just like Cerci. In the end they all had one thing in common; they had hurt Duke. And now it was your turn to hurt them.

You launched at Remus the knife in hand. He wasn’t expecting you to carry a dagger with you, let alone be bold enough to stab him.

“What the fuck!” He screamed as your dagger pierced his delicate skin. Nothing like when he stabbed Duke as Duke was already used to the pain of blades against his skin.

“If you take it out.. You’ll bleed out.” You taunted.

“Fucking bitch!” He went against your advice, pulling the dagger right out of his ribs.

You turned around, ready to run with Duke right behind you. But he was still holding his wound. He was still holding back tears of pain. “Shit.” You muttered under your breath, knowing that you were running out of time.

It didn’t matter how pressed for time you were, you knew one thing. You weren’t leaving Duke behind. And that was final. You grabbed Duke’s arm and swung it over your shoulder, letting him lean on you for support.

“Darlin’, no.. Leave me.” he muttered, barely being able to breathe.

“What? No, Duke you’re crazy if you think I’m leaving you behind.” You protested. It appeared he was about to say something else, but was too out of breath to say anything.

You ran as fast as you could with Duke weighing you down, but you would never admit that. You would never admit that he was weighing you down. But Duke was a huge guy, and even though you were getting stronger from the farm work you had done around the farm, it still wouldn’t compare to Duke.

“Darlin’, you need to put me down.” Duke said.

“What? No. No. I-I’m not leaving you..” You could feel yourself choke up with tears, “I’m not leaving you here to die. To have him kill you. That’s what that asshole wants. Please.. You have to keep fighting.” Hot tears were racing down your cheeks.

“Darlin’..I’m tired of fighting. I’ve spent my whole life fighting. And maybe.. maybe this is the final battle. At least my final battle wasn’t in an arena like my folks. I can’t fight if I know that it’ll end with you hurt. Just go.”

“Duke. Don’t be stupid. I’ll get us out of this.” You looked around the forest, looking for anything that could help you in this situation. Suddenly, your eyes landed on the Spellbook.. What did he call it.. A grimoire? Didn’t matter, if Cerci was capable of doing unspeakable things with that book, so could you.

You grabbed it, and flipped through the pages. Soon enough you came across the same spell that made you look like a half-blood. except that on the next page, there was an extra part to the spell. Something that you didn’t notice.

In order to choose what you want to appear to your audience, repeat the spell, while having the  image of the person/thing in mind. The spell will be stronger if there is physical contact between you and said person/thing.

Suddenly it was all too clear. You had a plan. You picked up Duke, like you had before. This time you were alarmed at how heavy Duke’s body was becoming. But you had to act fast. You quickly put him in a cave that was nearby and hidden. Making sure he was comfortable, you kissed his forehead, as you watched his peridot colored eyes close.

Grabbing the book in one hand, and holding his hand in the other, you chanted the same spell. As soon as you could see Duke’s exact same gloves, you sighed with relief. The spell had worked.

And just in time as Remus had found a way to get on his feet with his stupid injury.

“Hey, son of a bitch! Over here!” You waved your arms, catching his attention.

“Oh?.. Finally controlled that fucking pest? Good. I’m glad that you understand what must be done.” His words were ironic as he was limping the whole time.

You quickly thought of something Duke would say, “As long as you leave my Darlin’ out of this.”

He rolled his eyes, “Oh, you half-bloods, making such a big deal out of nothing.”

“Well, it doesn't matter. If you close your eyes, it’ll all be over soon~” He taunted.

You did as he instructed, mentally preparing yourself for the pain you were about to feel, but mostly for the beautiful life you were about to save. Soon enough you felt what Duke had felt moments prior. You stood there wondering how much torture Duke had to have endured in order for that to be bareable.

“Lord De’Andrea!” Another voice forced your eyes open.

It was a guard.. Of house De’Andrea? No, house Fain. You would recognize that symbol  anywhere, as not only was it the same one that had caused so much harm to your beloved, but it had also been permanently engraved into his skin.

“What are you doing here? I told you to tell Lady Cerci this was a solo hunt.” He said between gritted teeth.

“And that is what I told her, but she said, we should follow you in case we find.. important merchandise, and I see you have found one.” he said.

Remus rolled his eyes, you could practically see him throwing a fit. “Fine. You may cage the half-blood. Make sure it is healed before being presented to the lady.”

You felt relieved for a second, before realizing that you would be shown to the lady. Cerci.. That bitch. For a second you saw red. But then you were grateful that this was you and not Duke, who would surely have a panic attack on the spot.

“Alright then, you heard the lord. Chain the beast and have it shown to the lady. But not before patching it up.” The guard ordered the other guards that had arrived. Clearly this one was the captain. And clearly you weren’t getting out of his sight.

You looked back for one second, making it look like you were looking towards the forest, when in reality you were looking towards the cave in which you had left your lover. Your lover. Your lover.

And as the chains went around your wrists, and a muzzle was put over your mouth..

Goodbye lover.
