"Why should I?", Dorris asked.
" I mean, didn't I saw you with another woman on first snow? I thought she is your type", Dorris said sarcastically.
Though she was happy to see him again. She was still angry. She knew Ray would definitely have a reason for doing what be did that day but she was still jealous that he chose another woman over her.
"Didn't you chose another woman over me. You lied to me! Business dinner? Hmph!"
Ray dig his fingers inside his hair.
"Dorris I'm sorry okay. I'm doing this so that what happened that day will not happen again. I wanted to have you securely by my side. I really want to get married with you so that nothing will stop us anymore. If you ask for divorce, I won't give in and if I ask for divorce, you shouldn't listen too. I feel unsecured. I'm afraid something will really take you from me. Dorris let's get married uhn?"
Ray told her.
Dorris wanted to get married to him too. She want to declare him hers. She us anxious too that he might leave her to be with another lady. After all, they are from two different worlds. But then, is marriage the solution to the problem? Will getting married solve everything? She knew Ray is scared of his family not allowing him to get married to her later, but will she be happy if she get married to him in this situation? Is marriage the next thing for her now? She knew very well that she will have to retire when she get married or If her husband is not against it, she could work more for a few years till she start giving birth. But again, Ray family will never accept an entertainer as a daughter in law. Dorris wondered if she is fit to be in Ray world. She knew very well that she had two options now. Either to back out, and save herself all the troubles she will have to go through, or get married to Ray and fight together by his side.
It's easy to say but she wondered if it is really easy. By choosing to get married to Ray, She knew it means giving up her career and putting her poor father and brother in trouble. She knew if Ray parents really did not accept her, not only will she suffer but her dad and brother will suffer too.
Dorris felt torn, confused, scared, and a tiny bit of courage was struggling with all other emotions in there. If that little bit of courage will win or fear will take over, it is her choice.
"Dorris, I will really protect you. Believe me, even if it meant death, I will still go all the way for you.
I know I'm being selfish right now but I just can't help it. I need to be sure I really have your heart. I want to be sure if you are not just with me for the spur of the moment.
Dorris, Even you don't love me yet, I don't mind. You will still love me anyway. I'm so sure of this. Even I am not sure in how to protect you but I will still protect you using any means available.
Actually my parents wants me to marry Ava because of her family background and for business reasons but I don't want her, I want you.
My parents obviously will not want you but I want you to be rest assured, I will always love you. I will do everything in my power and beyond to keep you securely by my side. I will make sure to protect you and your family. I promise, Dorris. These are really not empty words. I swear on my life", Ray told her.
That little bit of courage in Dorris grey stronger when she heard Ray. She felt that she will be safe in his arms. He had given her his word. He had assured her. He had promise and he even swore on his life.
Dorris could not tell if she really loved Ray but she knew that she want to be with him. She wants to stay by his side. She want him. He is her man. She did not want any woman to take him away from her. She needs to declare her position as his woman to the world.
Seeing she us still not saying anything, Ray heart started beating fast. Will she reject him. Does that means he over-estimated his position in her heart?
"Dorris, we are only going to get our marriage certificate. We can still keep it secret if you like. You also don't need to give up on your career yet. You can go on doing your things. Just marry me.
Be Mrs Ray Dalton."
"Do you want to keep it a secret so that your parent wouldn't find out? You still want to continue going out with Ava? You want to marry me in secret because you are ashame of me?", Dorris asked.
Ray swallowed.
He actually still want to keep Ava mouth shut. He knew how ruthless his father could be. He did not want Dorris to be bullied.
"I'm not ashame of you, Dorris", Was the only thing he could say.
" Listen Murray
, If I choose to get married to you now then I'm going all in. I'm going to give up on my career. I'm ready to face anything there is out there. I'm actually a jealous woman and I will not allow any woman by your side. I will take anything that will come my way. I want to declare you my man.", Dorris told him.
"Same here Dorris. I also want to tell the whole world that you're my woman but you need to understand that we need to lay low for now. You should also use that opportunity to prepare to leave the entertainment industry.", Ray explained to her.
" Then I will marry you", she said.
"Yes, I.....What? Did you just accept my proposal?", Ray asked.
" Yes. I promise to be a good wife and mother to our kids. I promise to stay with you till the end no matter the difficulties, till death do us apart", Dorris said .
"I will learn to love you, Murray"
