Chapter 20__ We can't get married

Jerome entered the office and saw Ray busy reading through some documents and the same time working on the computer.
"Sir, shall we sign The business contract with Constance group?",  Jerome asked.
" Do not have any thing to do with constance group. I'm not getting married to their daughter. I love someone else".
"But, your dad..."
"You will obey me and not my dad.",  Ray told him. " I'm the chairman of H&D group ", Ray added.
" I need to talk to Ava....."
Diiiiiiiiiiing diiiiiing
Ray picked the call.
"Mum", he called immediately he picked the call.
" I'm at work...... You want me to cone home? Dinner?....... Ava is coming?..... Ok. I will be there...Sure", And he dropped the call. 'I will just use this opportunity to talk to Ava.'
"Jerome, I will leave work earlier today"
"Ok. Chairman",  Jerome said.
" Can you do me a favour?", Ray asked him.
"What favour?",  Jerome asked.
"Can you send a banquet of roses to her?",  he asked.
" Sure chairman "
"With a note"
Jerome nodded.
"Alright"
Ray smiled.
He will do anything to win her heart.

Ray did not like coming down to the ancestral mansion. He gave the car key to the valet and walk to the house. The door opened and he walk in. The Butler announced his presence.
"Oh! Ray is here.",  his mum said.
Ray walked to her and hug her. He gave his dad a bow and just nod at Ava.
" Hello, Ava"
"Hi", Ava greeted with a sweet smile.
" I miss  you ", She said.
" It's been almost how many weeks that we've seem each other last. You're always busy", Ava told him. She wanted his parents to be aware.
"Yes,  I was busy. I don't even have time to tend to yourself",  Ray said.
" That's not an excuse ", Ray father puts in. " You should make time for your fiancee."
Ray sat down.
"You wouldn't want me to slack behind at the office,  would you? Miss Ava will have to understand",  Ray told her.
Ava smiled.
" Why are you not signing the contract with Constance Gallery. We have to do business together and..."
"I've said with PK gallery. The director is a good friend of mine",  Ray replied.
" Do more business with Constance group, Ray", his father told him.
"Why should I?",  Ray asked.
" They are family", Mr Dalton said.
"I agree with your father",  Ray mum said.
Ava smiled.
" You're engaged to Ava. Buy a ring and propose to her....", Ray cuts in.
"Are you talking to me? Does this matter even involves me. Why would you be the one to tell me to buy a ring and propose to her? Why should you be the one to tell me I'm engaged with her? When was that? I did not remember telling her to marry me.
Dad, I will get engaged to whosoever I liked and marry that person",  Ray said.
" You!", his father exclaimed.
"Dad, stop this."
"Ray, what has gotten into you?",  his mother asked.
Ray ignored her and turn to Ava.
" Follow me. Let's talk"
Ava clenched her fist. She didn't want to follow him but she did anyway.
"Who do you think you're  to tell me to come and go?",  She asked him.
" I told you that day at the park. I Said I don't have a say anyway so why do I need to think. All I will tell you is that I will never love you. I did not believe in love. I will do anything for you except to love you. If you're still in, I don't care. Marriage? We can do it.
I'm taking my words back. We can't get married. Like I said before I will never love even though I now believe in love. I believe in a lot of things now. Fate, destiny, love. But my love is not meant for you. You will never own my heart", Ray told her.
"Because you like that upcoming artiste? You believed in love a long time ago when you loved Harriet with all your heart", Ava told him.
" You always believed in love"
Ray smiled.
"Maybe you're right. A lot of people tend to tell lies by building policies for themselves.
Listen Ava, I did not only like Dorris, I loved her.
" So what should I do?", Ava asked.
"Listen Ray,  I will never give up. Not until I met a worthy rival. That wench can not stop me. I don't even need to deal with her myself. Someone will gladly teach her a lesson for me.
I want you Ray and I will do anything to have you. Nothing can stop me.
You love her? You will not be able to marry her.I don't have to worry about her.
I won't even allow a filthy thing like her to be your mistress.
Like you said before Ray, you have no say over this. I'm in charge. In as much as I insist in marrying you, I will. You know I have the means. The more you resist me, the more I will want you. You  can not run away from me. You have to be my husband and I will be your wife. I'm your bright future Ray. You have to think before making choices. I have a lot to offer but that girl as none.
I can't stand seeing that girl near you but I will let her enjoy it for a bit.",  Ava eyes is so scary as she is spouting those words.
" Ava, ..."
"Ray you're mine. I can't stand loosing you to that girl. I know she is the bitch here. I know she is seducing you. Everything will be fine when she is gone. I will be able to have you all to myself."
"Don't touch her, Ava", Ray told her sternly. He can take anything but no one can harm Dorris.
" I've told you that the more you resist, the more I want you. Besides, Why will I touch her when I have people to do it for me? Someone like your Dad?", Ava asked.
Ray bits his lips.
"I won't say anything to your dad about her on one condition. Go out with me frequently. Let's see if I will be pleased and will leave the girl alone",  Ava told Ray.
Ray sigh.
" Ok. Let's do that", Ray said.
Ava smiled sweetly again.
"You have to obey me Ray",  She said.
" Let's go in to eat dinner quietly", She added.
Ray  closed his eyes.
He will do anything for his dad to be oblivious of Dorris.
That's the least he could do for her.
"You have to keep your promise Ava",  he told her.
" Of Course"
