Chapter 6_ Dinner mates

"Will you be my dinner mate?",  he asked.
" dinner mate? What's that?", Dorris asked him.
"Let's eat together. I feel very comfortable eating with you",  He told her.
She scoffed.
" I don't want to be tangled with you", She replied.
"Why?",  he asked.
" I...."
Diiiiiiing.
"Sorry,  let me take this call",  He said.
Dorris smiled.
'He likes eating with me? Is that a confession? How do I look like when I'm eating. I almost blushed. That damn guy'
" sorry. It's a call from home. Should I drop you off at your place?", He asked.
She cuts in.
"No. I will take the bus",  she told him.
" Okay then. Good night , my dinner mate", He said and winked.

Dorris jumped on the bed after showering and changing into her pyjamas.
She'd decided not to mention it to any one that she had debuted until she signed the contract.
She smiled.
Now, she will even be more popular than she could be if she was in ginger girls. She agreed with the quote every disappointment is a blessing. Her disappointment is indeed a blessing in disguise.
Then she remembered that jerk.
Why will he say he wants to drop her of at her place? Is he her boyfriend. Why did he wink her too. He even call he his dinner mate.
"When did I agree to be his dinner mate?",  she asked smiling.
Dorris slept that night with a smile on her face. It seems better days are coming.

On the day of the signing event, Dorris put on a rosy mini gown and strawberry pumps. She packed her hair in a pony tail.
" Guy, good morning. "
"You're looking good",  Guy told her.
" I know . It is intentional", She said and they both laughed.
"Let's eat lunch together after the signing",  he told her.
" Okay", She agreed instantly.
"Good morning", They both turned to look at the speaker. It is the third member of their band.
" Good morning to you too", They greeted him.
"My name is Toby. Nice meeting you.",  He said.
" I'm Guy"
"Guy?",  Toby asked.
Dorris laughed.
" you should really change your name Guy", She teased.
" My name is Dorris. Please take care of me."
"I will call you Sis.",  Toby told her.
" No problem. You're younger than me anyway."
"I'm still in college",  he replied.
" So what will you call me?", Guy asked.
"Guy"
"What? I'm even a year older than Dorris!"
"So what?",  Toby asked.
" You can't disrespect your elder", Guy said grimly.
"I will call you brother then", Toby said
" Okay. That will do"
"Hi",  The Rays turn to look at the leader of Belles.
" Hello", the Rays greeted.
"I'm Vicky. Nice meeting you"
"Same here",  Dorris said. " And I've got to thank you."
"Pardon?",  Vicky asked.
" I actually tapped from your confidence the other day. Everyone is tense and nervous that day except you"
Vicky laughed.
"I didn't realize",  she replied.
" You're cool", Dorris said.
"It's you that is friendly",  Vicky said.

The signing event was attended by several reporters. After signing the contracts. Rays entertainment announced The Rays as their main band.
Dorris is very happy.
The signing is a success.
The Rays were handed to one of the senior Managers, Elijah.
And they were given an assistant each.
Dorris was so excited.
Her phone beeped.
She saw that it's a message from an unknown person.
She read the message.
Unknown__" Dinner mate,  let's eat lunch together. "
Dorris looked around the hall and she saw him.
She messaged back.
Dorris__"I have an appointment"
Unknown__"With who? Who cares anyway? Come on let me treat you to a nice meal."
Dorris__" No. I have an appointment with someone."
Unknown__"Please,  I'm hungry😥"
Dorris sigh.
She walk to Guy.
"Guy,  can we eat lunch together tomorrow. I have to go out now",  She asked him.
"Okay"
"Thanks. Bye"
And she walk out of the hall. She bumped into someone.
"Ouch! Watch it!",  she yelled.
" Do you have split personalty or something. Sometimes you will be docile and sometimes fierce."
She rolled her eyes.
"Do you want to eat lunch or not?",  she asked him.
