Chapter 8__ Be mine

Ray's mood is very good that morning.
He entered the office and he met few of his staff in the office. They start sing the happy birthday song. They even bought a cake.
"Thank Guys. How do you know it's my day today?",  He asked.
" It seems you're forgetting that you're a public figure.", Jerome replied.
That's true.
Ray's fans had been posting him and wishing him happy birthday.
"Can I be lazy today since it's my birthday?",  Ray asked after blowing the candle.
" After signing those.", Jerome said pointing to a heap of files on his desk.
Diiiing. Dinnng
Ray checked the caller and it's his mum.
"Good morning mum"_📞Ray
" Happy birthday,  my son. Long life and prosperity."📞 Mom
"Thank you mum" 📞Ray
"Will you come home for dinner?",  📞mom
" No"📞Ray
"Let's eat lunch together then" 📞mom
"Ok. Text the address" 📞Ray
"Enjoy your day son" 📞Mom
Ray dropped the phone. He entered his office. The staffs had went back to work and It is only Jerome in the office.
"You can go. I will get to work"
"Alright",  Jerome said and walk out.
Ray is busy reading through and signing documents when Ava entered his office.
"Morning Ray",  She greeted smiling brightly.
" Good morning to you too", He replied her greeting and busied himself with work.
"Happy birthday to you",  Ava said and put a parcel on his table.
" Thanks."
"Can we eat lunch together later?",  Ava asked.
" No.I have an appointment with mom"
"Dinner?"
"I am having dinner at home"
"Can I join you"
"No. Someone is joining me. Let's talk some other day, Ava. As you can see. I'm very busy."
"Ok",  was the only thing Ava said.

Ava entered her car fuming. Why is he not paying her attention? Why does it look like he is purposely avoiding her.
Ava is pretty and she had many suitors as a lady from a rich family. She is arrogant and had turn all of them down because she had eyes for someone_The popular pop_star, Ray.
She had a crush on him like every other ladies out there did but she wanted him. Ava had always gotten whatever it that she wants. When she met Mr Dalton in a banquet she attended with her dad,  she had found out that Mr Dalton is Ray father.
She made sure the business contract between their company and H&D work out.
She also planned  a coincidence and picked a bag Mrs Dalton is also eyeing in the mall that day. And it happens to be the last in the store. Ava gave the bag to Mrs Dalton smiling brightly. "You can have it, ma. I can see that you like it so much",
Mrs Dalton was very pleased with her. That is how she became close with Mrs Dalton. She went to see Mrs Dalton at home when she met Mr Dalton again. Ava knew how to please the elders and the couple naturally liked her and the matchmaking began.
When Ray told her that he can not love her but will get married to her, She is not pleased. She wants him to love her.
Ava believed she is pretty and will make Ray fall for her.
That's a plan. so why is he avoiding her?

After the lunch with his mum, Ray sent a text to Dorris.
Ray__Busy? Can you come out for a bit?
My Fan__Are you at the agency?
Ray__yea
My fan__🤔
Ray scoffed.
My fan__ok. Wait. I'm coming.
" She is not even wishing me a happy birthday ", he muttered to himself.
Dorris came out to the garage after some minutes.
" Hi", She greeted as she enter the car.
"Hmm"
Dorris scoffed.
'Is that even a response'
"Happy birthday to you."
Ray smiled.
"Thanks",  He said.
" Where are we going?", She asked.
"You will see"

"This! I use to hear people talk about it",  but wouldn't it be boring. Watching a movie alone in the car"
"I have you here so it will not be boring.
" What of those that are alone in their car?", She asked.
"That's their business not mine"
"Oh! The movie is starting!"
Ray drove Dorris home after the movie.
"The agency dorm will be completed soon. You guys will be able to live near the agency", Ray told her.
" Hmm. We saw that in the contract clauses.", Dorris replied.
They are in front of her house.
"Where is my birthday gift, Dorris",  He asked.
Dorris melt. She like the way her name sounds coming from him
" Birthday Gift? Do you want to rip me off. Go to the agency,  the gifts the security men received for you has filled up a room",
Ray laughed.
"You know, I'm not really interested in those gifts you're mentioning but I definitely needs something from you"
"I don't have a gift here",  She replied.
" You do", he told her.
"Uhn?"
"Can I take it?",  he asked again.
" yes?"
Dorris eyes widen when she saw him lowering his heard. She unconsciously closed her eyes and he kissed her. He wanted access into her mouth and she gave him. Dorris felt tingles in her body.
He stop kissing her  probably because he noticed she is out of breath.
He buried his head in her neck.
"Dorris",  he called. His breathe fanning her neck.
" Yes?",
"Be my girlfriend,  my woman. "
"Pardon?"
"Dorris be mine"

Ray entered the house. He saw her shoes outside the house. She is around.
He smiled when he saw her talking to miss Preya.
"Welcome home young master. I didn't expect that she will come like she usually did."
Ray smiled.
"Thanks for coming"
"I should still celebrate your birthday with you even if that person is not around",  Melinda said.
" Let's eat", he said and they move to the dinning.

Ray dropped Melinda off at her place when his phone beeped.
Harry___It's your birthday. Let's celebrate💃. We're waiting at De Glory. Our usual place.😛
Ray smirked. They're back in the country. Those scoundrels. They are Ray's best friends and they are twins. A guy and a female. Harry and Harriet . Harriet travelled out of the country five years ago and Harry went to her Last year when he heard she was in an accident. Harriet was in a vegetable state for seven months.
Ray sent a text to Miss Preya.
"I'm not coming home early. I need to catch up with friends"

Ray entered the private room and he remembered the last he was here. He was still a pop_star then. The only time he could meet his friends is usually at night.
When his eyes met Harriet's, his heart fluttered.
